Froch will not need the ref in the rematch as he will now adapt his style to an American style. He will grab, headbutt, moan and throw 3 punches each round. He will spar ward broner and Hopkins to prepare.
The judges can then give him the fight.

    Very well put..spot on.

Also not forgetting that is was still a close fight on 2 of the judges scorecards (regardless of the hysterical British commentary)..

Clear TKO win for Froch....a great fight by Groves and hats off to him but he proved he doesnt have what it takes to outfight Froch..

SOOOOOOOOO unbelievably typical of British fans to get all hysterical about this...I remember when I was a kid (silly, immature, stupid) and watching Hagler destroy Alan Minter and being all upset about it and banging on about how Minter was robbed by headbutts....i look back on that fight now and think how pathetic that was as Hagler would of clearly destroyed him anyway.

Perhaps when some of these guys grow up they will look back the same way on this fight...the Brits are very weird when it comes to this sort of thing....I am English but havent lived there for more than 20 years and see this as a real cultural oddity about England (its easier to see when you are outside looking in).

I think carl froch's next fight should be against someone on his level he should fight for the central area or english title

callum smith or rocky fielding will be 50/50 fights for carl froch

He should forget about rematching George Groves for british and Commonwealth championship

George Groves will not win a legitimate world title in his career in my opinion.

Yes it's amazing how so many have turned against him on this forum. He's spent his entire career fighting the best often in front of a hostile away crowd and the one time he may decide to look for an easier fight he is trashed.

Plenty of fighters will never go on the kind of run Froch has with quality opponent after quality opponent but god forbid Froch should even once try and prolong his reign and take an easy defence.

Groves had his chance and he donked it because he strayed from his gameplan and started playing games, dropping his hands and trying to slug it out with Froch instead of boxing him like he did in the first six rounds.

Groves needs to quit blaming the ref and take a look in the mirror. He gave away the fight, he had it in the bag and he threw it away. Idiot.

Exactly- few other champions would have given him the chance and manoeuvred away. Groves has better skills and is 11 years younger. He was also ahead in the fight. Froch could've been better too, that means he blew it.

Froch also is the best suited for groves to win the world title so he messed up there as well.

Let's not forget that, despite his 'fight anyone - anywhere - anytime' reputation, Froch has had a close-shave and a touch of luck along the way, before meeting Groves. He was seconds away from his first loss, against Taylor, and was on the favourable side of a Split Decision against Dirrell.

Then, a past-best Kessler erased the idea of Froch being invincible and, later, a highly skilled Ward finally put Froch's limited skill-set into a true perspective.

I suspect that, in most people's opinion, Groves is stronger, faster and more skilful than Froch. And why not think that? Groves has actually demonstrated this. Moreover, when the stoppage came, Groves wasn't beaten in the way that Taylor and Bute had been - not even close. It was just another one of Froch's desperate, clumsy assaults, which Groves was weathering and for which the ref saw fit to prematurely stop the fight. There really isn't a huge case of evidence to suggest that Froch was on the cusp of finishing Groves off, which is why people are so upset with the ref's actions. We will never know whether or not Groves could have made it through round 9 and how the fight would have reached its full and proper conclusion.

In terms of what would happen in a rematch, I agree that he should avoid trading with Froch - he doesn't have to - and marshal his energy a little bit better.

If Groves fights with discipline behind his very strong jab, he need not fight negatively at distance. Froch came off worse in most of the exchanges and Groves landed the right hand consistently - Froch just couldn't avoid it. Groves also has good footwork and defensive skills to keep him out of trouble. He can still attack Froch, without trading.

With a little more mindfulness in his work, Groves would be even more effective against the easily confused Froch. He can pick his moments to land the right, throw combinations and control Froch's ungainly, forward lurches from behind the jab. He doesn't need to let Froch run at him and, if necessary, Groves can comfortably side-step and turn his opponent and capitalise again.

Either way he decides to play it, a stoppage win, in favour of Groves, is not an outlandish prediction.

No he didn't - Which is why a significant majority of people consider the stoppage to be premature. Groves wasn't a beaten man.

He stopped defending himself and stumbled around the ring disoriented. Maybe not beaten, but he wasn't in control of his defense and when that happens the ref can stop the fight without prior warning.

You realize there are zero official complaints from Grove's team? Not to the BBOC or the WBA/IBF. Groves and his trainer know they stand no chance appealing this. The ref's stoppage was in full compliance with the rules and the only one Groves has to blame is himself.

I don't think whether or not the rules were broken is in question. Foster had every right to stop the fight. Ultimately, it's at the referees discretion, as to determine the condition of the two competing Boxers. However, that's not to say anyone and everyone has to unequivocally agree with a referee's decision and Foster's is one of no doubt a countless litany of questionable judgements by refs to come under scrutiny.

The fact remains that the majority of people felt the stoppage was made too soon. I disagree that Groves was either disoriented or not in control of his defences. Perhaps, given more time, that scenario might have come to fruition. But the beginning of Froch's one good moment in the fight seemed to signal to Foster that Groves was done, which was not the case.

Whether any rules were followed/broken or not, Groves wasn't a beaten man at that point in the fight. Nonetheless, Froch got the 'W'.

It was an unsatisfactory ending; inconclusive and debateable; one that any true Champion would want to address, with the minimum of delay.

Giving Taylor the nod would have been bull****, Froch was taking over from the 5th-6th round and Taylor was only landing odd shots after that point, Froch was beating him to the jab and was stiffening Taylor every time he landed the right hand. Froch also dropped him twice in the last round. The myth that FRoch was outboxed for 11,3/4 rounds is exactly that a MYTH. I'll post the vid of the fight and you can talk me through it if you like ?
The first Kessler fight was a close fight, and it was only Frochs laziness and posturing that cost him the fight. Had Froch been busier down the stretch, and not continually been admiring his own work he would have faired much better.
I was at the Dirrell fight, Dirrell had the tools to win the fight, but spent most of the night running, doing an impression of an umpa lumpa, and complaining to the ref.
Froch was beaten by the best man in the division, a man who is being lined up as the next p4p king, and your expecting people to question Frochs ability because he lost to him ?
Groves shocked and hurt Froch in the first round, he knocked Frochs gameplan out the window, and had Frcoch fighting on auto pilot for the next 8 rounds, and yet he was unable to finish the job, BUT a better prepared less ****y version of Froch would be stopped in a rematch ?
    This place gets worse.
