Anyway, a further amusing update on the adventures of our forthcoming trip to Vegas for the Calzaghe fight...... One of my mates calls me up a couple of weeks ago having just read the documents I sent him about the flights and hotel. "I've just read the conditions and it says that if you have any criminal conditions, you need a visa... is that true?" "Yes, what do you have?" "A drink driving ban 3 and a half years ago" So he calls the US embassy, they say it should be alright and gets booked in for an appointment. So he takes the day off work and gets the train to London and takes a seat with some official. "So I can only look into your history for the last 4 years initially and can see that you served a drink-driving ban in 2004. Unfortunately, that means I can see your entire history and there's also a fine here for urinating against the outside of a public house in 2002" My mate had completely forgotten about that. "That was a long time ago" he says embarrased. "Why are you going to Las Vegas for a long weekend?" At this point, all logic must have flown out of the window as his reply was "Me and a load of friends are going out to watch boxing!" with enthusiasm. No visa given. He was a bit of an idiot really by telling the truth but I thought it was funny. Anyway, we have one spare ticket again!
PrideOfWales - think your original thread got deleted. Not long to go now - shame your mate won't be joining you but hope you have a great time over in the States. :good
Have a word with Joe, I'm sure he'll be able to supply you with any visas or fake passports you need. Sorted
A friend I went to Hatton-Mayweather had a conviction for handling stolen goods in 2006 and everyone in the party had spent convictions of some description from 'back in the day'. If you just keep quiet and act sensibly on the plane and going through immigration then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Just tell your mate to take a chance...
I've just got wind that a certain boxer planning to fight on the undercard is being refused a visa to the States due to a former drink problem! If someone pulls out, you know why!
Hey, PoW, here is a bone fide true story for you, mate: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56694 :good
