I wonder why Joe Calzaghe was never offered millions for his return to boxing?

Well it all depends when he'd have moved up.

I'd put wins over Eubank, Mitchell, Reid, Brewer, Woodhall, Salem and Sheika above a half dead Barrera, Malignaggi, Kotelnik and Salita any day.

His win over that particular version of Kessler is more impressive than anything Khan, Maidana, Garcia or Peterson have on their resumes combined.

put it this way, I don't think its a huge insult saying JC could of had trouble at LHW, its hard as hell to move up weight and be successful, only a rare few ever do it.

I don't think Joe would ever have fought Roy at LHW in the late 90's/early 00's. But if he had've done, I think Roy would have won.

I'd have given him a good chance to have beaten anyone else though.

Again, the entire premise of the thread is false. I'm not sure why people are posting as though it were true. He had offers to return, and a Ward fight in 2013 would've been a multi-million dollar fight.

No problem whatsoever chief, just wanted to get that out there that the original claim is off base lol. Apologies if that came off poorly.

But aren't you one of the people who agreed with K2 about Ward not being a money fight? Now you drag up info on him and Joe having a mega bout. Look at that, you guys are detectives when you want to be.

In comparison to GGG-Alvarez, you're friggin' right I said that. I was one of the people that said nobody in their right mind would believe that Ward-GGG was a bigger fight (financially speaking) than Alvarez-GGG. I also said that Ward in 2016 shouldn't get the larger split. Ward in 2013 would've.

Back to the point of the thread, in 2013, Andre was a bigger name and bigger draw than he is now. He'd have been worth more, and a fight with Calzaghe would've been worth more.

That would've been a multi-million fight for both fighters, and it was years after Calzaghe retired.

After his victory over Roy, I still would have given him a good chance to beat Dawson.

I honestly feel Calzaghe lost the hunger, and was content to hang them up when he did.. I would have loved to see him in a few more fights, like Jones in the early 00's possibly even DM.. Tarver in 04 after the KO of Jones would have been good too. I think Joe would have destoyed Froch and Pavlik, but also think G. Johnson would have made it a good fight at LHW around that time but would have favored Joe in an exciting fight.

Calzaghe could of went 64-0, with victories over Ward, Froch, GGG and The Wilder and the haters would still call him a bum.
The truth is Calzaghe was the greatest fighter in the last 30 years.
