I wont fight Pacquiao because he gives up 27% of his purse to Arum. WTF???

The person who started this thread and the majority of posters who responded are idiots with no reading comprehension skills.

Nowhere in the quote did Mayweather say that "he won't fight Pacquiao because he gives 27% to Arum" or that Pac is unqualified.

He said that Pacquiao is not his own boss, and in addition to that Arum gets 27% of his money. He therefore says that he'll talk to Pacquiao once he becomes his own boss. He didn't say anything about Pac being unqualified like the thread starter said.

It makes perfect sense. How can you try to negotiate a fight with someone, when legally, their career is controlled by someone else. Mayweather can't negotiate with pacquiao because no matter what they come up with, if Arum doesn't ok it, then its off.

yeah pacman is the p4p#1 now... but floyd could have still retired and still been fine... he really doesnt need pacman to re-assure anything about his career... he had a wonderful career pacman would just be icing on the cake.... there will always be a #1 p4p... floyd retired from boxing as that
so really floyd is doing pacman the favor.... everyone wants to see floyd come out of retirement and take on pw-cotto-shane-pacman-margarito and whoever else... so floyd would be the one doing the favor by actually coming out of retirement... you see what im saying?


and in floyd case i guess taking a 50 - 50 does mean bending over because he DOESNT need to take the fight... he was retired...

thats why floyd always mentioned pacman NOT calling him out... if pacman truly wanted the fight as much as everyone else wanted to see it.. he woudl have called him out just like jmm did.. floyd did jmm the favor and took the fight on floyds terms....pacman isnt calling floyd out publicly so he must not really want the fight that bad (in floyds mind atleast)

 

Pacquiao doesn't call people out, it's not his style and I know you know it...but Roach has made it public that the goal was to fight : Hoya, then Hatton and finish it off with Mayweather...

I don't have aproblem with Mayweather rolling into the sun with a permanent retirement after the JMM fight if that's his wish.

But...if he keeps fighting, its not about making favors to anyone, its a business first and foremost....therefore the best business and professional decision out there that would generate the most money WORLDWIDE, not just the USA is fighting Pacquiao ! I'm not even talking here about making a fight that fans desperately want to see and that could strongly ciment both guys' place among their ATG rankings......

I totally disagree that Mayweather deserves more than 50% of all generated revenues..The PBF bubble is still surfing off big names like Hoya and Hatton, before the financial crisis may I add.....and with the emergence of 24/7 which really was a huge help ! Now 24/7 lost a bit of its initial impact because it's not new anymore....

50-50 can and will be done if they are wise....

Oh so he came back because a top #3 P4P featherweight called him out huh? I remember a lot of people didnt really believe he retired permanently, a lot actually believed he would come back. But since all these news about financial and legal troubles he's allegedly having problems with, i think its easier to accept that he's back because he needs the money, not because boxing needs him, ofcourse its better if he's active and fighting, but boxing moves on and great match ups were delivered to the fans, with or without him.

Ok I cant be the voice of reason but I'll try. I was sitting with a boxer who was watching the interview. The boxer said it just like this, "As long as Bob Arum is involved, the fight will never happen." I asked why he said its like this.

Cornerman 2%
Cutman 1%
Trainer 2%
Any outside Management or publicist 2% to 5%
Of course the sanctioning fees 1%
and of course the good ole boys at the end of the year (IRS) which could be offset by write offs and all kinds of other junk 18%

That equals just about 50% of Pac's money goes to someone else. Which would be Roach, Cutmen, Cornermen, and etc. But guess who gets the largest cut...DING you got it Bob Arum...and for what? Pac can't afford to take that fight for anything less than 50% and in fact Pac literally fights for less than a QUARTER of the purse. Now if YOU REALLY think about this Floyd would be PAC's biggest fight and Arum knows it. There is no way bob is going to let pac and floyd get it on without bob raping pac and if pac wins raping floyd at the same time. It makes perfect sense, cause according to floyd and everywhere else arum still owes him and other fighters BACKPAY from fights way less important than this one. Do I wanna see the fight...yep...Do I want these dudes to make a deal with the devil just to please me....Hell no! This is business and boxing purses are getting bigger. Pay per views are going up because of these stupid negotiations. If you listend closely Floyd said, if pac were his own manager the fight would have been made along time ago because you just added 27% more money to negoiate with. I think he wants a 55/45 split with a percentage of the Pay Per view which seems like a VERY SMART BUSINESS MOVE. You can call him whatever names you want but you can't call him broke or stupid.
