You could say much the same about Brook. GGG sent him to the hospital after 5 rounds.

But I doubt GGG is going to carry Canelo the first few rounds like he did Brook. I expect GGG to make a statement with this fight.

I just watched a clip on youtube of Steve Forbes talking about Canelo Triple G and he favors Canelo. He made the point about stamina, that late in the fight Canelo is gonna be in "Super Shape and that towards the end Canelo is gonna really start landing some clean shots".

I think stamina could be a big factor in this one. I just don't know if Triple G can match the consistency round after round, and just staying sharp mentally like Canelo will. I think there's a strong possibility that Triple G could be over agressive in spots and get winded and frustrated and not have much left in the tank for the championship rounds, where Canelo could take over in the 2nd half of the bout, and like Steve Forbes said could start landing clean shots if Gennady starts to fade.

I've never seen anyone say Canelo will win a fight by being strong late and relying on stamina, much less winning a battle of attrition against the guy who wrote the book on the subject.

I would not only favor Cotto to beat Brook, but to win decisively by ko. And I would gladly take your money if the fight were to be made.

Well now you've seen someone say it, and his name is Steve Forbes. Forbes indicated that he's been in there with Canelo in sparring. How exactly did Triple G "write the book on the subject" of stamina / attrition? He's only gone the full 12 rounds once in his entire life and it was in his last fight. Generally, I think you'd agree that younger fresher fighters have better stamina and don't tire as easily as older fighters, especailly someone like Triple G who's made a name for himself by being a knockout artist. Canelo has youth and stamina on his side, I just can't see Triple G getting better as the fight goes on. If Triple G can't get Canelo in trouble in the early rounds, then I'd expect Canelo to remain the fresher fighter down the stretch and take over as Gennady starts to fade.

How about Canelo pulls straight back and charges forward with his hands down?

Have you watched Canelo fights? His Stamina is suspect because me only fights in spurts.

Doesn't mean it's true, but it's a good point considering many factors that go into this bout.

First you have the age advantage for Canelo. Then you have the fact that Canelo doesn't have to cut to make 154. That extra 5-6 lb cushion is going to increase Canelo's stamina dramatically.

Vs Chavez, there was an exaggerated affect with Chavez providing little resistance but we seen a very comfortable Canelo vs Chavez and quite possibly the best version of Canelo. Just in terms of stamina, Canelo stood between rounds and looked like he could fight 12 more rounds if he wanted to.

The 154-lb tank we saw vs Liam Smith is now a 160-lb tank and that's a stronger Canelo with better stamina because he's not going to be cutting weight to make LMW leading up to the fight. He can make this weight easily while Triple G has to watch what he eats and may have to drain himself somewhat. Well think about the stamina consequences of the two fighters. Forbes brings up a good point about stamina but he really didn't explain why, so I gave you some reasons as to why what he said makes sense when you look at the two fighters fighting at 160.

This is absolutely a valid point to be made. I've always been under the impression that Canelo could fix some of his problems by reducing the heavy toll weight cutting takes on him. The Chavez fight did leave a sour taste in my mouth as I was pretty excited to see what Canelo could do at such a weight but we ended up watching a heavybag session.

El Pollo can't fight 3 minutes per round, he has to take time off. He has never been hit as hard as Golovkin will hit him, plus, Golovkin is a very skilled fighter, fantastic amateur background. Golovkin is bigger, can out box El Pollo, can also out punch El Pollo. The biggest advantage El Pollo has is the referee, judges and boxing commission. Watch Bob Bennett cheer him on...............

Power can definitely trump boxing ability.

For example, Frez Oquendo was easily beating Tua and being praised by the commentator on his excellent boxing ability until Tua caught him flush and that was it.

Golovkin vs Canelo has the possibility of turning out the same way if Canelo is ahead on points and becomes overconfident and momentarily defensively careless.

I think all of you are missing the point it's the styles and weight.Styles make fights and GGG uses the Mexican style that Conelo knows and knows how to counter it as well . But can cConelo handle GGG strength and the weight .
Because Conelo will use Mayweathers style to counter GGG like like Mayweather did to him and beat him.

Canelo is the guy that fights in bursts.

    Golovkin is the pressure-in-your-face-all-the-time guy.

Unless something completely insane happens and they both start fighting the opposite to how they have always fought, it's Golovkin who will be opening the taps from rounds 9-12.

    Food for thought:

GGG threw 615 punches against Jacobs who threw 541 back.
Canelo threw 604 against Chavez who threw 302 back.

That's right: against a hard hitting, mobile and dangerous MW like Jacobs who was working hard, Golovkin threw more punches than Canelo against mobile heavy bag Cheeseburger Jr, who actually only landed 71 weak-ass punches in return.

There's a clear edge in workrate and stamina here, and it's in Golovkin's favour.
