A lesson in modern day boxing that should be learnt - a close and / or competitive fight doesn't warrant a rematch. It would be as absurd as Crolla getting a rematch against Jorge Linares.

Yeah, that's exactly what boxing needs, another pointless rematch.

Toss it in there with Fury Chisora 3 and Haney Kambosos 2. Maybe if it does above 50k buys we could then see exciting matches like Wilder Helenius 2.

Loma won fairly enough, Ortiz' stock went up even in defeat. Let's move on. There are interesting potential moves for both men that may even lead them back to each other eventually (probably not, but it isn't out of the bounds of possibility).

    Loma clearly won.

If you want to have rematch - make a thread about Tank vs Cruz 2

An inactive much smaller 135lber clearly beat a huge young guy. Absolute no need for a rematch. Instead why don’t Ortiz start fighting some 140lbers and see what happens when he’s cracked by a big 140lber

Agree. Ruiz didn't convincingly beat him.

No more rematches for close, but clear victories. There are too many good fights to be made.

It was close enough to warrant a rematch, so why not.

Because a pointless rematch will take fighters out of the game for four to six months extra and waste everyone's time.

Loma was rusty and coming off a year break and still won. If you have Ortiz fight him every six months for the next few years he may finally win one.

Maweather had an off night against Maidana, Roy against Tarver, Tyson against Holyfield, Lewis Against Rahman, Barrera against Juarez, Diaz against Marquez, Calderon against Segura, Pac against Morales, Castillo against Corrales, Mosely against Forrest, Hopkins against Taylor, Taylor against Pavlik, Forrest against Mayorga ect. There's nothing wrong with close competitive fights having a rematch, so why not.

I wouldn't call Pavlik inflicting a life and mind altering beating and winning by violent KO, as a close or competitive.:sisi1

He was getting beat in the first fight leading up to the KO. When had him hurt I was on the edge of my seat, it was a great moment for me!:campeon:

Yeah, same... seeing Pavlik pulverizing and sending Taylor down in a heap in the corner was exhilarating.:deal:
