We will find out where he is at in his career tonight, but I don't think he gave himself the best chance at the world class level by neglecting road work. Sure his stamina looked great against guys he was suppose to beat, but against guys that know how to handle themselves in the ring, he's seemed to tire. He does cardio as if he's a heavyweight. He doesn't have a big 250 + lbs frame to avoid road work.

It is weird to me that he doesn't run, but hey its working out for him ok so you can't knock it. I don't think I have seen Diaz out of gas before??

doesnt diaz swim and hit the stairmaster like everyday for his cardio? i dont think road work was the answer. it would have been interesting to see him at 130 or even 126.

  4. Thats very strange hey. You hear of fighters going through a camp here or there with a substitute but to neglect it completely is differant.

There is no substitute for road work. He's a lightweight. He's not a Shannon Briggs

He actually dosent seem like a natural lightweight. He seems to be more of a natural super featherweight. His body has some fat on it at lightweight but maybe thats just his body type, not all boxers have a muscular body. And hes able to kee his volume punching high pressure style going all throughout a bout so i wouldnt worry about his cardio training.

there is absolutely no real substitute for good road work. Swimming isn't actually a bad replacement though, if you do it for several miles. It's easier on your body than running.

I rewatched the OG brodcast of the fight last night
and during the pre-fight interviews/Build-up ect...

They showed a pic of Juan as a kid and it seems to me that dude has always been the chubby type. Maybe he just can't burn that last bit of it off?

I mean to fight at the pace he did against JMM in their first go 'round was pretty impressive, That said I do wonder aswell how he would look at say even 2 division's lower.

Oh well, It's not his thing.

nevermind the road work, he should just retire to try to keep his brain in tact. He'll need if since he plans to go to law school

His stamina has never been a problem and the guy throws punches in bunches. The only problem is that he is too careless in there and when he got a very good boxer in front of him he gets caught. I wouldnt change his cardio training. Maybe his diet though bc he could fight at a lower weight for sure. He always carries some babyfat in there.
