I wouldn't give Povetkin a speck of credit if he manages to win, no integrity at all.

Think about it this way, when Wilder gets ktfo he will have the same excuse like his Brit cousin Price to defend that glass

I was favouring Povetkin to win, but Russians and PED's is a big problem right now.
This week there was news that on the 2014 Winter Olympics at least 14 Russian athletes were tested positive, but the test were never published.
Russia wants to show their dominance in the sport, because they want to be a dominant country. The RUSADA is a corrupt organisation.
I even think that same athletes can not be blamed, because it is provided by their trainers.
I've read a lot of stories by cyclists who used PED's. For some of them it wasn't much of a choice. It was either lose without it (and not earning a lot of money) or just do it, don't get caught and compete with the rest.
PED's are a great problem in the sport and I think all athletes who get caught, no matter what excuse, should be suspended. Remember Alberto Contador, the amount of doping in his system was so low, but he got suspended anyway.
If they return and get caught again they should be banned indefinitely.

So they should do the same with Povetkin as they did with Browne. Test a B-sample and if it is positive, ban him for 6 months.

It should just be shown on his record as W (p) to indicate he was roided up with peds at the time.

Say Paracetamol is listed as a banned drug on 1st Jan. You had a head cold and took some in September of the previous year. Nothing further due to the drug ruling. Your test showed up 70 nanograms of residual paracetamol. This result is considered consistent with that time frame.

Result should prove you adhered with the current drug policy. Fight should therefore continue.

If you try and argue with these facts.

    Talk to the hand.

A nanogram is actually a part of a whole. 1 billionth of a gram is a nanogram.

6 months is nothing in professional boxing, that's literally the time off in between the fights at the top level.

I mean the last Povetkin fight was actually 6 months ago, so yeah, if he's guilty there needs to be an actual punishment not something half assed that means almost nothing, that'd just encourage more people to cheat because heck, if I'm caught nothing happens anyway.

According to Andrey Ryabinskiy, the promoter of Povetkin and CEO of the 'World of Boxing' promotional company, the concentration of meldonium in Povetkin’s blood possibly within the allowed limits.

“Well, if you are interested, the concentration of meldonium in Sasha Povetkin’s blood, is 70 nano (!!!) grams”, wrote Ryabinskiy on his twitter.

According to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s standards, concentration of meldonium within a span of 1 to 15 micrograms is virtually acceptable for the probes, made from January 1st till March the 1st of this year, while probes with traces of meldonium, performed since March 1st, can be detected as positive for a quantity exceeding a limit of 1 microgram. Povetkin’s current concentration is 70 nanograms = 0.07 of a microgram, according to the promoter.

Meldonium was commonly used amongst athletes in Eastern Europe, but was placed on the banned list by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as of January 1, 2016. In prescription form, the substance is used as an anti-ischemia medication, used to improve blood flow.

Povetkin’s team openly admit that the boxer had previously taken meldonium as recently as last fall prior to his 12th round stoppage win over Mariusz Wach last November, at a time when it was still legal to use the substance. The victory was his fifth straight – all by knockout – following the lone loss of his career when he came up well short in his Oct. ’13 title bid versus then-champion Wladimir Klitschko.
