Rios would tear Ortiz to pieces but it would be fun while it lasted.

Ortiz doesn't have the heart for it.

At his best (in the past) I think Ortiz could have beaten Rios... hes a very talented fighter and when he puts his all into a fight he would be hard to beat for someone like Rios.

But, Ortiz is done, and even at his best, hes inconsistent, and if his all isn't into the fight Rios becomes a nightmare for him.... Id say Rios beats him more often then not.

Still though, if they wanted to get Ortiz one last payday, this could be one of his few options left. And yes I would watch it as well.

If they keep fighting these obscure guys hoping to build Ortiz back up they will probably wind up losing before they ever get him back to a payday.

I actually think this fight would be makeable and reasonable for both camps.

Or Ortiz vs Alvarado (assuming he loses Rios 3)

I generally agree with the idea that Victor is shot but I thought he looked pretty damn good against Perez who's very subpar but hard to stop, he was stopped only once in 7 by Rios awhile ago and Victor stopped him in 3 in December. Maybe.........even though its a long shot Victor may have found something now that he's working Joel Diaz, but I may be being too optimistic, here check it out if you haven't seen it.

Me neither, i thinks it's a great fight with real bad blood attached to it. It would be a war.

Ya I saw the Perez fight (just might rewatch it tho, thanks for the vid) but honestly to me Ortiz showed some serious serious 'frozen' moments... meaning his brain is freezing on defense, which usually to me means a fighter is done. I really hope he proves me wrong though, Ortiz always entertains and Im actually rooting for him on his comeback. If I was them I would indeed try to go after Alvarado next (should he lose against Rios tonight)

Victor looks good while on offense.... but its his defense that is appallingly bad, imo. He is getting hit with shots he should never be getting hit with, and maybe he didn't care against Perez and just decided to take them but I think its more likely that hes not seeing the punches anymore, and when he is seeing them he is freezing for the shot instead of reacting. His offense can look as good as can be but if his defense doesn't raise a few levels in his next fight or two he will get Collazo'd time and time again once he raises his opponent level.

I hope Im wrong though, and that Victor shakes off the rust, tightens his game up and gets back to the level he can be at (if not raise it a lvl or two) and gets back in the mix with some of the top guys.

If he can show hes back.... theres a lot of great fights out there still

Victor vs Khan, vs Rios, vs Algieri (im probably alone on that lol), vs Malignaggi, vs Judah

and fighters usually take a fight or two to reap the rewards of their new trainer, so theres probably more improvement coming for Ortiz in the next fight or two, hopefully.

Yeah I didn't like the freezing either but when he adjusted and started attempting to box him in latter part of round 2 and round 3 he looked pretty good, although like you doubt I doubt he's ever going to be top tier again, but a Ortiz against a Judah, Paulie, or even Berto rematch would be entertaining. The Algieri match up could be damn good I'm one of Chris' few fans on this site it seems, pre Ruslan.

    I think Rios takes it.

But saying Ortiz has no brains, heart or courage (a little redundant since heart and courage basically mean the same thing) is too far the other way.

He's quit a fight or two -- and definitely showed some questionable judgement in others -- but he's still a guy that climbed between the ropes a lot of times and made a living by getting and punching people in the face.

And it's not like he's never been in a war before, he's just really inconsistent.
