I remember Roy Jones Jr., he was once called Superman. He once had reflexes that was beyond anyones immagination, his hand speed was one of the top in the game and his awkward style caused fighters to have fits. I remember that guy, what happened to him?
damn u know what, i've heard that for years. but i thought that was only a rumor that was going on around pcola, i didn't think ppl outside of pcola had heard that.
Roy should quietly hang up the gloves... ...after he gives The Executioner the rematch he's been wanting all these years.
This is 100% not the case. Calzaghe has NO business rematching Jones. At all. Hopkins vs. Calzaghe II is the fight.
His chin would get shattered into a million pieces by any HW above the tomato can level. Heck, if one of those guys landed a punch, he might be out cold. Jones would be INSANE - repeat, INSANE - to fight HWs at this point in his career. He was lucky to take on perhaps the worst HW beltholder of all time, and that was when he still had something left. Now, it would be suicide.
Why not pass the torch to Chad Dawson? It's a win win, If Jones win's "Goodbye" Chad, If Chad win's "Goodbye" Roy.
Jones needs to be evaulated for competency at this point if he thinks he can still compete. If it is drug induced than we can go ahead and chalk it up to abuse. RJJ is reminding me of a guy who just doesnt know when to quit ala Holyfield. It seems these 2 are going to have to get killed in the ring. I hate to say it but someone is going to have to hurt these two guys to get em to stop. Holy is far more durable than Jones so Jones will go out easier. We can put Vitali on Jones and Wlad on Holyfield.
I don't see a reason for Joe to give Jones a rematch unless he is desperate for money ..And the Hopkins fight is the only one worth watching so why not persue that ?
Roy needs to have a few "farewell" fights in Pcola against a few tomato cans and call it a career in front of his home fans
I kindly disagree that Roy could beat anybody of notice at heavyweight. Not since he was forced to switch from his "superman" to a conventional style. Now that he is more of a stationary target he will get knocked out. Roy is done, he was my favorite boxer, but it hurts to see him losing to people he would have beaten a few years ago.
