Cotto said he didn't mind who he fought next. He left it up to his team. The only time I strongly recall him calling anyone out was Pacquiao - but I might be wrong there.

Do you honestly think Floyd ducked Cotto or any other fighter?.

Its funny that every fighter Floyd has actually ducked has been with Top Rank.

 

Whether he 'ducked' them or not it doesn't matter. He didn't fight them, so doesn't get the credit for doing so.

 

I think Floyd beats Manny. But I think people will look back and wonder why eh didnt fight Mosley(before 2010) Margarito Clottey Cotto Pacquiao Williams. Some Welterweight division. Instead he chose to retire and even claimed Cotto had to build a bigger fanbase

 

the only point i make is the people critising him for not fighting these fighters would also have picked him to win and think he would have won

he still didnt do it in the ring but its an important point because they are actually saying that floyd didnt duck the fighter out of fear

as for pac vs floyd, floyd had no idea pac would refuse the testing. pac still hasnt agreed to testing to the the day before the fight which is what floyd has asked. maybe floyd will compromise. but for someone to have been hurt and dropped at lower weights, then walk through margarito and cottos punches, and then refuse to take any kinds of blood tests.. history will question that

NO one is giving him credit for those fights.

Boxing politics always has a factor of why boxer a didn't fights boxer b c and d. His legacy is fine without those fighters anyway.

 

Floyd won't get the respect until he officially retires.

Robinson and Ali were hated like mayweather and loved years later.

 

The point is, Spud, if Floyd maintained the approach to taking on challenges at welterweight like he should have, his resume would have been looked upon more favourably. When that 147 division was burning hot with competition - Cotto, Marg, Williams - he instead felt he didn't have to prove anything by fighting them. With a fighter that's as gifted as him, it's sad to see him be so unwilling to fight the best at the right times.

 

Of course it wasn't just a convenient tactic to avoid a fight he didn't fancy?

There was never any suggestion of the juice beforehand. The only person to claim it was Floyd Sr. The fact they're being sued and are avoiding deposition tells you all you need to know.

s soon as Manny agreed to one set of tests, Floyd changed the criteria. Why do you think that is?

 

Floyd could have done a little more, every fighter could have done more.

The point is, you and many other posters are forgetting that you can only judge a fighter on what he has done.

Judging a fighter on what he could have done is fantasy, we would have liked to see many fighters face other opponents but they dont always happen. Life goes on get over it.
