@Theuzi and Rob. Adam Smith does have a pronounced style. I can see why some would say he's an aquired taste. As a commentator he has an excessive commitment to putting huge emphasize on the obvious. But he's definitely a boxing fan, unlike Dave Darts who's just come along for the ride and knows F all about the ins and outs of the sweet science.
Its the old skool mics they use Durananimal, thats why the atmosphere always sounds ****. No headsets with Darke & Watt, its the old way for them & SKY... This content is protected
Gotcha:yep that explains it, thanks for that:good You'd think that with the technology today they could split feed (overlap/re-mix) the commentary with real time live arena sound would'nt yer:smoke
I don't understand the fascination with Woodhall. This being the man who was saying at the end of Rd. 12 with Joe and Roy Jones they should have a rematch at Cardiff Arena or some **** for his swansong? I'd rather stick with Jim Watt, cheers.
Im just glad you brought it up, cos its one of those things that have did me & my pals heads in for years! Im no sound expert, far from it. we always had a moan about SKY's **** sound though, until one of my pals noticed THOSE old mics one night, & we have been raging ever since! Cheap ****ers are SKY...
Remember that lawyer turned female prizefighter? I've seen her doing a few interviews and she's very handy. Maybe they should bring her in as a reporter or to do the post fight interviews, i'm sure she would do a better job then Ed Robinson or Craig Slater. Edit: Her name is Laura Saperstein.
I have to say I've never really been that bothered who commentates. Unless they're unbelievably bad or good, I just zone them out half the time.
Big loss although I'd love to see Woodhall in!! Not many people know the sport like Richie Woodhall!! I'd also like to see Ed Robinson given a go!! He's a proper boxing man!!:good
I'd like to see Richie on the panel, which should be 5 of them, one being Colin Hart as the resident jorno along with McGuigan/Nelson/Woodall & 1 active guest pro for a fire & ice balance. It needs 3 at ringside IMO much as HBO employ as this as a bit more spice to the mix, McGuigan & Watt has all the potential to turn into a tear-up at ringside
