Grew up with him, Always liked listening to him. A good commentator helps a good fight at times. Those moments when they capture a fight in a few words etc.
Iv also grown up with Ian Darke on Sky. Simply the best boxing commentator they have ever had. He knows his **** from top to bottom, understands exactly what's going on in there, plus he's very knowledgable about a fighters past and personal life. Describes a fight very well and is genuinely a boxing fan. Nostalgia plays a part but Ian Darke makes it a big fight for me and its not been the same without him. Halling and Rawling are bloody terrible.
No ESPN don't have the rights. Best Ian Darke moment was in the Hatton v Pacquiao fight. "And Ricky Hatton is being hit, by a Pacific Typhoon"
Agree 100% with this. Darke is just so much better than anyone else. Knowledgeable, passionate, calls fights very well and is also a good panellist as seen on this weeks Ringside. SKY GET HIM BACK!
Well said Oli. I watched MAB-Morales 1 for purpose of scoring again recently and it made me realise(not for the first time) how much poorer commentating has been without him.
