Ian Millarvie

Judging by those videos he's going nowhere. No zip, snap or creativity- when someone like that is considered a major prospect it says a lot about the state of the division. Thats not me been horrble thats just me judging him on a p4p basis.

 

What about british level Jeff. with the training & sparring hes getting in America, & after a long injury lay-off, Im hopeful the big man can at least win a british title in the future. You think hes not even up to that?

BTW, its not a loaded question. Its just that when I watch the likes of Skelton & Gammer, I wouldnt have nightmares about Millarvie fighting them a year down the line. Im not getting carried away btw, cos Im not a good judge of heavyweight boxers. Its not a division I particularly like to be honest.

 

Skeltons getting on and looking at an alphabet title so it looks like Gammer might be the man to beat in a year or so. The division is wide open....

 

If Danny Williams can keep his weight down, he could be a major player on the british scene for a good few years yet. It was Gammers bad luck that Danny rolled back the years & came in light, & fought like the fighter we all knew he could have been if only he could have stayed away from the grub...

 

Dunky - hope your well! It sounds a bit harsh what I have written but I don't mean it in a nasty way. All I mean to say is there is very little about him or the division at the moment. Your a hundred percent right he probably could give them a good fight but I think that says more about 2007-2008 heavyweigts then his capabilities. I'm been a bit harsh I think and have completely contradicted myself but i'm in aright mood with heavyweights at the mo.

 

Haye will move on to HW next year, so he'll be on the world stage for the UK. I can feasibly forsee Maccarinelli moving to HW too, although I feel he'll be on the domestic scene before Euro and maybe alphabet. In saying that Macca is so small he could easily stay at CW and maybe pick up a major title at some point.

 

What happened to the guy Tyson Fury that was hyped up last year?

 

He's been boxing with some success for England. He's still amateur but looks a good prospect and by all accounts is pretty decent.

 

i've heard good things about sam sexton as well....does anyone rate him?

there were rumours that tyson fury would turn pro if he wasn't selected for the next olympics.

as for danny williams...is he injured or something? its been 6 months since gammer and no sign of a match-up. he may still be considering retirement.

 

Beshaws car crash might have been the best thing to ever happen to him. by breaking the knee cap and continuing to train after the initial healing he has been forced to learn to box of the correct footing. something that is very hard to change in an established fighter. were the power seen him through an AMA career, he has now had to discover and learn the full physics of the boxing game. Scott has progressed dramatically while out of the ring due to injury and really has come on leaps and bounds. I personally reckon he is twice the boxer he was before.

There is still alot for Scott to learn but at 22YO he has plenty of time, the RAW (and yip he is still green behind the ears) power is there and his real strength is only starting to come through now. defo one to keep an eye on for the future.

However, the most notable thing for me is the question about an amatuer Heavyweight recieving a lot of hype, Tyson Fury!
