Takam was kinda similar to Ike. I think this fight would go to the later rounds, either a decision or a stopagge. Probably would favor Ike, but could go either way, Povetkin has looked spectacular last few fights.
Povetkin does nothing better apart from having a better left hook but it wouldn't matter since Tua had a better left hook than both of them. Ike was a better inside fighter , he had superior work-rate and stamina. He had better head movement. He threw more varied combos. He destroyed prime Byrd in 5 round , it took Povetkin 11 rounds to get a corner stoppage against Byrd's corpse. Ike beats Povetkin.
Who did Ike ever beat on the inside? Byrd? Ike imo didn't beat Tua. Tua got the better of him. Again, you are basing this off of 1 fight. Ike burnt out after the first half and most of the punches he threw against Tua weren't heavy punches. His accuracy wasn't very good either. Ike was losing to Byrd up until that point. Povetkin was 14-0 going against a former 2x world champion. Povetkin beats Ike
Povetkin more skilled; Ike more physical. The beginning of the fight is all important, if Sasha can make II miss enough and counter imho he could turn on the taps late and win. Conversely if Ibeabuchi can land big early, he might make it a short night. My best guess is 60-40 to Povetkin; if Ike wins it's by KO, if Pov wins it's on points.
Great match up. There's just not enough of Ike to get a true measure of how good he was imo. Tough to call for me.
Pedvokin beat a old shop worn Byrd.In Byrd prime he would have made pedbokin look silly.Ikes punches had no effect on Tua? Who won the fight. When Ike beat Byrd he wasent old and shop worn
Tua . He beat the snot clean out of Byrd on the inside too. He was generally a good inside fighter. Povetkin isn't. You said Povetkin was better at every facet of the game. Thats not true. Povetkin wasn't better at anything. Negative , Ike was still going to town in the late rounds. If he was burnt out after 6 rounds , how did he throw a 1000 punches over 12 rounds? Povetkin doesn't set a pace like Tua anyway and is known for wilting late himself. And he doesn't have the power to hurt Ike like Tua did. He wouldn't test Ike stamina , it would be the other way around. Thats another lie. Byrd was never even in that fight. He scored the first round purely by virtue of Ike doing nothing. From the second onwards he was in survival mode before being knocked senseless in the 5th. The Byrd that took Povetkin 11 rounds was shot to pieces and got destroyed by a 175 pounder in his very next fight. In fact Byrd was shot years before he even fought Povetkin. Prime Byrd more than likely takes him the distance. Ike out boxes Povetkin just like Tackum and keeps it going for all 12 rounds since he would not fade and crumble like Tackum did. Tackum has shown in the past he has stamina issues. Stamina , work- rate and toughness is one of Ike's greatest strengths. Povetkin gets beat up worse than he did against 200 pound Huck.
Too bad this fight can't happen. The first time I ever saw Povetkin fight was against Takam. He was impressive. Povetkin looked as good on the inside as any heavyweight I've seen. Since then I've seen him in all of his fights. He maneuvers on the inside like a "how to" video. In addition he is also a big, strong fighter with stamina. He might not be quite as physical as Ibeabuchi, but he is more skilled. I also saw Ibeabuchi and Tua and Ibeabuchi and Byrd and was just as impressed. Ibeabuchi was a big, strong, fighter with great stamina and he was relentless. He may not have been as polished as Povetkin, but he wasn't lacking in technique, and he is probably a little bigger and stronger than Povetkin. Both seem to have excellent stamina. The fight could go either way, if it went long, Povetkin's early body work should pay dividends late, at least it would on a normal fighter, but who knows if it would on Ibeabuchi? I could see either of them winning. The only result that would surprise me would be if one of them knocked the other out early.
