Look at him as an early/mid teen, he was developed on another level..I'm convinced he was fed steroids..He had the upbringing of a Pit Bull bred to fight. His whole life revolved around boxing.

Tyson reckons he wasn't all that big when he first met Cus D'amato, not big enough to be reckoned a future heavyweight champion.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was fed hormones to boost his growth.

I think he was always big for his age though.

By all accounts he was incredibly developed for a 12-yo, before he ever met Cus.

Hundreds of American high school football players and non-athlete weightlifters go through similar trajectories every year.

You do realize you're mentioning the precise demographic that are likely to be using 'roids ?

Some of them do, some of them don’t. I bulked up quite a bit between 15-21 without using roids, and so did quite a few of my friends. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why so many classic Boxing fans are so unsophisticated and uninformed about weightlifting? There is absolutely nothing suspicious about a large, well-developed preteen packing on 20-30 pounds of lean muscle mass by the time he’s 18-19.

Well I'm not uninformed. I've been lifting weights for about 24 years now. I bulked up loads in by early 20s. People probably think I've used steroids. I haven't. (But if I was a professional heavyweight boxer I probably would.)

I agree with you. There's nothing suspicious about growing during puberty. LOL

Tyson was already bulked in the 201 pound class by the time he was 15 though. That's wholly possible naturally too. It's just interesting that he says he was "too small" at 13 but already almost 200 pounds at 15, and then he was only about 215 - 220 as pro at 19 or 20. And then he never grew beyond that.
It's an unusual growth pattern. I'm not saying that's suspicious as such. But you can't say it's the norm for kids in sports.

Also, bear in mind, Mike Tyson DIDN'T LIFT WEIGHTS as part of his training in the D'amato days.
Unlike yourself and every other kid you know who bulked up for team sports or bodybuilding, he wasn't in the weight room. Yet he grew like a mother****er.

At the very least, that's a uncommonly special case. I'm not sure it's even comparable to many other "freak" athletes.

But would you say it was beneficial, conventional or natural in the true senses of the words?

Tyson was a freak of nature... You said it yourself, it's not unusual for a football athlete to do roids, after all, they are mostly used among people who spend a lot of time in the weight room...
Tyson was surrounded by people who were major against weight lifting, they probably didn't even know what are steroids and what's their purpose...
