Yeah, I was just pointing out that the IBF has set up two straight tournaments but they end up not going according to plan for one reason or another.
Before that, shot Sam Peter followed by shot Hasim Rahman were made IBF challengers when Povetkin backed out twice in a row. IBF had better hope Pulev is the real deal and gets past Ustinov... If Ustinov wins, then Wlad might vacate and the IBF heavyweight title becomes a minor title. Speaking of Adamek/Walker...Walker looks lean and mean. Sure Walker is a bit crude....but this might be the end of the line for Adamek. Walker is faster in the ring then the big guys Adamek has faced in the past like Arreola and Grant. Goral's chin is gonna get tested this afternoon.
An Adamek and Cunningham rematch would be good. But either will then lose if they get a title shot. Either of the Ks will KO Cunningham and probably Adamek as well.
Why would he vacate against Ustinov? (A) he would have proved himself a worthy foe and (B) it would mean K2 get two pay cheques.
Someone associated with the Pulev camp who posts on here mentioned this possibility in the Pulev thread. His predictions on the IBF eliminator turned out to be correct so I'm thinking it's credible that if Ustinov somehow wins then Wlad might vacate, at least temporarily....especially if bigger fights against Povetkin and/or Fury are feasible in 2013. You have a good point about the double pay-check for K2...but I'm thinking K2 makes more money against Povetkin or Fury or Haye.
I just can't see K2 ****ing over one of their loyal and long standing employees (Ustinov) especially if he actually earns a mandatory shot at Wlad. As it is Ustinov probably feels a bit unlucky that he hasn't got the shot that Charr and Wach have been given. He's possibly more deserving than both.
