I like Malignaggi but he's been getting a free ride for his gutsy performance against Cotto. Beating N'Dou to become champion is all fine and good but he got a gift against Ngoudjo and followed that up with a less-than-sparkling performance against N'Dou in the rematch. How he even gets a fight with Hatton (who himself is overrated) is all marketing. Malignaggi will only be effective against fighters who he can clearly outbox cuz anyone who can match him boxing wise will most likely beat him due to his lack of power. There's no equalizer to bail him out if he falls behind on the scorecards. Do you ever see Paulie pulling a Whitaker/Hurtado cuz I don't.

Im interested in the fight, who else is there for Hatton to fight at 140? Its already proven he struggles stepping up in weight

Not alot of wiggle room for Hatton. He can't go up to 147 cuz he obviously has trouble taking punches there and 140 isn't exactly littered with stars so I guess Malignaggi fit the bill. Paulie's lack of power makes it even more attractive from the Hatton side. No threat of a KO. I'd like to see Hatton vs. Bradley. That would be an interesting fight.

Hatton must be pissed at the news because from he's point of view other then the title up for grabs the fight is not that appealing now as theres not much to gain by beating Malignaggi:patsch

The IBF is a corrupted and disorganized entity. Ricky Hatton is a former two time IBF light welterweight titlist and his challenge is beyond reasonable doubt to the eyes of the layman. Ngoudjo had his shot and formally failed, NDou failed twice, the IBF light welterweight title should not be all about Paulie, Lovemore and Herman and there should not be personal issues disabling Hatton to fight for his well deserved money.

The IBO is the equal of any of the other belts.

Man he is the number 1 after hatton at 140, HBO and sky are bank rolling the fight that is more important than any title.

Actually Juan Urango will be the guy fighting Ndoudjo for the vacant IBF belt... should be a decent fight i guess....
