I don't know if Felix Sturm will actually go through with it, but IBF wants him and Curtis Stevens to fight an eliminator. I'm sick of Sturm getting so many oppurtunities over other guys, but I think he'd box a decision over Stevens.
I, too, like Stevens in this fight, depending on where it is fought. On neutral site, Stevens. In Germany, not so sure, unless he KO's him.
I'm going for Stevens in this one, strums one down a lot in the last fee years and I don't know if he has that same hunger anymore
I just can't see Stevens KO'ing Sturm after watching Stevens struggle with Brinkley, Findley, and Tureano Johnson. Sturm might have a low volume but so does Stevens. Sturms has a tight high guard, good jab, and rarely throws a careless shot, where Steven's KO victims are generally wreckless brawlers. All at the same time I'm surprised Sturm is even motivated for this fight. If he wins he either rematches Soliman or face Golovkin (assuming Soliman gets his wish and fights GGG).
Stevens is the stronger fighter, but Sturm has lots of experience and can be slick. Stevens could probably beat Sturm, but not 100%...............
Sturm has only one in recent years gotten the hometown cooking. His fights against Murray, Soliman and Geale could have easily been given to him but they werent.
I wouldn't be suprised if Sturm drops out of this fight and we end up with Stevens/HNN, a fight HBO already rejected earlier this year. Too bad, we could've ended up with Lemieux/Stevens. Meantime, Soliman's trainer - Hedge**** mentioned he thought Sturm would return at 168 and that he looked drained for the rematch. I think Sturm vs Abraham or Kessler or Steiglitz would be a big money fight in Germany.
If this happens lets just hope GGG has beaten the belt off of Soliman.....both Sturm n Stevens will vacate their mandate.
