    Geale is on the back of beating Karmazin and Sylvester (in Germany). It's the first defence of his title. He's allowed a gimme. If he fights someone on the same level in his next defence, I'll be the first to criticise.

    Geale doesn´t even try to hide that he ducked out of fights with Maravilla and Sturm because he wants to keep his paper belt as a hostage in Australia as long as possible with showcase fights against fake contenders..

    He deserves a gimme but if he goes onto have a run like Ricky Burns WBO defences (Evansen-Larayea-Cook) then he deserves some abuse.

    so beating Karmazin who at 38 and owner of "4" middleweight wins and Sylvester who is average at best...i can see how this guy is so exhausted from the elite level of fighters hes been facing :bart

    There are gimmes and there is utter ****...he should be embarrassed to fight a guy thats hasnt beaten a ranked guy under 140.....i mean really?? whatever...the dude was knocked out by jnior middle james kirkland in 1 round not long ago ! :rofl

    Ugh, you're tedious to say the least. You know this is professional boxing, it's their livelihood. Now as a boxing fan I don't want to see **** fights, but I understand that boxers have to secure their futures. I don't throw my toys out of the pram when a boxer who worked himself into a mandatory position before winning a title takes an easy first defence. Go away and have a cry for yourself mate.

    He's not the mandatory.

    IBF states that mandatory challengers be ranked in the top 13, if I remember correctly.

    Their site is down, so I can't check the rule at the moment.
