That’s rubbish mate. Are you saying that they called everyone in the top 50 and they all said no to fighting him for his mandatory?
If you want smoke it’s out there. or you can just sit on your ass and cry that you’re somehow getting screwed.

More like the IBF top 15. But, yes, that is pretty much what happened.

Read the link above, regarding Parker and others.

Eventually the IBF had to go outside their ranking requirements to allow Zhang to compete in a final elminator because no one above him (ie the top contenders) were accepting the fight with Hrgovic.

It's all there in the news articles of the time. This story just doesn't get the same traction as Whyte does.

First off, it’s according to Hrgovica team that was Parker was offered and refused.
If it’s true then I guess Parker had to choose a fight in a stadium against Joyce or a fight against Hrgovic in a school gym.
My opinion is that Hrgovic has wasted his career by sitting on that mandatory instead of chasing big money fights, as a result only hardcore fans even know who he is. He has one good win and that should not be enough for a title shot. Doesn’t deserve it.

I respect your opinion that you think everyone on earth has been avoiding him. But he still only has one decent win in his whole career, it’s not enough for a shot.

Well think of it another way. The IBF is before the WBO in the order. Parker chose money over the quickest route to the title.

A school gym? Hrgovic v Zhang was on a Joshua v Usyk undercard in Saudi as I recall.

But Parker can do that, but it's still technically a duck. Remember when Whyte chose to fight Parker for more money and swerved the final eliminator with Pulev when Bulgaria won the purse bid.

But about who deserves a title fight. Who did Fury beat to get his title shot? Who did Wilder beat? What about Joshua? What about Dubois?

It's cool, some fans just like to follow the popular fighters from popular countries.

But it will be 1,032 days

This is the answer. It should be Joshua vs the winner of Hrgovic vs Dubois for THE mandatory for undisputed. Whether the winner of that fighter is a nominal IBF holder or not does not make a difference: there is only one champion and that is Usyk. Winner of Joshua v Hrgovic for the no. 3 spot in the division (or no. 2 actually if Fury loses again).

And a draw against Fury. If Hrgovic "won" against Zhang then by parity of reasoning Wilder had a draw against Fury.

It was a big deal when they went down the IBF rankings trying to find an opponent for him and nobody accepted until Yoka, who then had to fight Bakole on contract, then they kept going until Zhang. So yeah a lot of guys ducked him, like 8/10 of the IBF contenders or similar I guess lol

The IBF sanctioned the Fury vs Usyk fight, knowing that it was a two-fight deal.

They would look like idiots for stripping the winner of the belt for honouring that deal.

They would also look ridiculous for not recognising Usyk as the champion.

I know it happened with Fury after he beat Klitschko but that doesn't mean it should happen again.

But if Dubois won, won't the IBF look ridiculous for stripping Usyk of the title and recognising Dubois as champion when Usyk successfully defended the belt against Dubois nine months ago?

I myself are fans of fighters who fight! And fight other good fighters. But it’s cool, some fans jump from one next big thing to the next big thing.

The IBF did not strip Ruiz when he beat Joshua with Pulev sitting waiting as mandatory,on that note I can’t see any reasoning to strip Usyk .

It’s an insane situation that 6 of that top ten have never fought for a heavyweight world championship…

Hergovic has done nothing to deserve a title shot, for whatever reason.
You have to earn a chance at the top table, and if you can’t put a decent run together then you have to stay active and pull numbers.
You can’t possibly convince me that hergovic deserves a chance over dubious or Parker or even Zhang or Joyce. He’s only fought Zhang and he scraped the win, and that was the Zhang before he made people take notice with his wins over Joyce.
For me it’s Parker and Dubois who deserve the next shot at the champion, nothing in hergovics recent record should put him anywhere near a title shot, but I think he gets beat by Dubois anyway.
