IBF middleweight tournament in the works to determine Daniel Geale's mandatory. http://www.boxen.com/news-archiv/newsdetails/article/sylvester-greift-wieder-an/23.html Planned semi-finals: Sebastian Sylvester v Sam Soliman Roman Karmazin v Osumanu Adama Who do you think will win this tournament?
Geale just outworked him. Sylvester started slow and never seemed to pick up the pace. He landed some nice, hard counters throughout, but Geale just threw a lot more punches, and was landing most of the time he threw them. Workrate won Geale the fight and Sylvester had no answer for it. I didn't score it properly, but watching it I felt that Geale had won in around the 117-111 reason. Clear win for the Australian.
I honestly thought Karmazin won, 115-113. I watched it live on Eurosport, and Sylvester had one of the slowest starts I've ever seen. He did very little for the first 8 rounds, Karmazin won the majority of them just throwing shots and outworking Sylvester. Sebastian came alive late on though, and probably snatched the last third of the fight because Karmazin was very tired. Sylvester dominated the end of the fight, but didn't do enough in the early goings to win it for me. I thought Karmazin had it. There was some sort of debacle with the scorecards though at the end, where I think Sylvesters promoter enforced some rule about even rounds or something, which meant that the fight ended up a draw instead of a Karmazing win. It was a strange occurence. Sylvester is a decent fighter and nothing more IMO. He's all round pretty solid, not really lacking in any particular attribute (except maybe workrate) but he just doesn't have the clear cut class to beat the best Middleweights out there. He does well late in fights, and can throw some good counter shots (particularly the hooks), he blocks and parry's well too, but he often looks clueless when his opponent moves around and throws more shots than him. He is very susceptible to being outworked, and that's what caused his loss to Geale. I do think he will beat Karmazin though, if they fight again, because I believe the Geale fight took a lot out of Karmazin (Loss TKO12), plus I think he's showing signs of aging and really slowing down late on in fights. I also have a feeling Sylvester will come prepared next time round, and learn from his mistakes.
Nope. This is some Joe Callfaggot fanbot logic at best. Most of the DeGeales flurries hit nothing but Sylvester Gloves while Sylvester had, hardest, the cleanest punches, it was clear as day. I can give workrate for DeGeale but that's not mean much when most of his punches hitting nothing but air or SS Gloves. I was actually praying DeGeale would beat Sylvester because I hate SS but I was shocked how poor DeGeale was. It is quite ironic that after all those fishy decisions Sylvester got himself finally got robbed at Fight he clearly won. DeGeale is not reigning long.
1 thing: Who is DeGeale? And are you serious, Malibua? Really? Sylvester did NOT win that fight by any margin. If you scored that fight to Sylvester, then you need new glasses. It was a clear as day win for Geale. Check to RBR thread and see how many people scored it to Sylvester. It was not close to being a swing at all. Clear win for Geale, poor performance by Sylvester. Landing 5 counter shots every round doesn't win you anything. Consistent movement and workrate does. Come on homeslice, whut'chu talking about?
Geale is unbelievably weak featherfisted, no physical strength most likely got not much of a chin as well. Sylvester lost because he´s a fool and would most likely act the same way if they ever rematch. I thought he rightfully lost though it was closer than the officall scorecards reflected. I had it Geale 116-112. All Sylvester should have done was go straight to Geale and knock him out. Geale is such a weakling he can´t even defend himself. Mindway the fight Sylvester landed few lead right hands right thru Geales closed up guard without any problems but then he choose to hide himself behind his jab for some reason and kept his right in the pocket for the rest of the fight even though his right hand was working pretty well and for sure had ended the fight at some point. Geale is a solid skilled boxer though he made some adjustments during the fight and tried to get closer in second half and fought Sylvester from midrange what won him the fight at the end of the day. So Sylvester got a limited skillset and can only box from the outside, he got no ring iq and trainer seems to be a fool as well. I don´t know what Soliman has left but that I don´t like that tournament tbh i wish the IBF would get that paper champ Geale some proper mandatory
