Classic Deontay. It's so weird that he doesn't want it with Dillian. I can only think it's due to him not wanting to deal with Whyte's drama and insults as let's face it he'd very likely starch him.
That's fine with me, actually. Pulev vs. Breazeale was a waste of time with the result a foregone conclusion (Pulev UD) and it would've been a chore to watch. Pulev vs. Whyte is a good eliminator, from which a very deserving mandatory will emerge. Wilder vs. Breazeale is...fine, honestly, by Wilder's title defense standards. Besides, they have beef from that weird encounter in a hotel lobby a year ago, plus with Breazeale's size and style he could actually switch Wilder's lights off (by accident with a haymaker most likely, but hey, stranger things do happen in boxing)
To be honest, i think a Breazeale fight will help Wilder out more than a Whyte fight, since Breazeale is similar height and weight wise to Joshua.
Whyte is a legit draw now. Can do 10k at o2 arena easily. 2nd biggest draw after AJ. (Maybe Povetkin does more in Russia?)
Would either guy take it? Whyte already has a guaranteed shot at Wilder. And Pulev... Well Pulev might actually take it. He did fight Chisora after all(who is one the same level with Whyte). And that Joshua payday.
Interesting, if Pulev comes in shape he wins , but in England you never know. This is not the desired opponent White wanted , tough fight for him.
Povetkin might have raised his UK profile to about the same height thanks largely to our dear sacrificial lamb Pricey, but yeah Whyte is right up there with him behind AJ.
Brezeale has a very basic skillset (to put it kindly) and he's as slow as a week in jail. Height and weight are where the similarities with Joshua end.
I'm good with what this means. It probably means Wilder fights Dominic. That's a decent fight, might be Wilders second best win. And stylistically, I can see Dom posing at least some threat. Wilder struggled with Washington, he could struggle with Dom. Would also be better prepared for an AJ fight, as someone mentioned. And Pulev v Whyte would be a good fight. Whyte would be a very live underdog for that one. Hopefully Eddie doesn't scuttle it.
Whyte has many options and Pulev is kinda stuck right now, interesting situation. If you take away Pulev`s clinching and the fight actually happens in the UK then Whyte can win a decision ,controversial or not. But i dont think that this will happen at all.May be we get Takam vs Pulev instead.Hes ranked in top 10 IBF also.
I think Whyte-Pulev is a good fight, very happy to see it. Wilder-Brezeale/Breazele/Braezale/Dom B. will be vaguely interesting for six rounds. Won't boost Wilder's resumé much, not the fight he should be taking right now.
Yeah, my gut says this fight doesn't happen. As you say, he has alot of options, and I think Eddie wants him against Povetkin. But I think this fight probably makes the most sense for Whyte himself. With Pulevs age, British refs and a British judge, this could very well be a 50/50 fight for Whyte. I don't think he has remotely that chance against Sasha. I hope this happens, I'd much rather see Whyte Pulev than Whyte Sasha (or Whyte Wilder).
Whyte doesnt need too take it, he will get a shot at Joshua in the future, mandatory or not, he will stick to the WBC route and face the easier Champion.
