Risky fight for Dillian Whyte, I wouldn't have him as favourite if this fight comes off. Do both fighters even want to go the IBF route anyway?
Pulev is high-risk but he's high-reward as well. No matter which champion Whyte ends up challenging next, if he takes his recent campaign and then slaps Pulev's scalp on top it drives his B-side asking price way up.
whyte is alrerady ranked number 1 in wbc why would hearn match purse bids with team pulev in the hope of getting whyte a shot at the ibf title v joshua when hearn can make that fight happen any time he wanted to.
I don't. Breazeale would be pretty poor prep for AJ and do nothing for his profile. It'd be great to have Wilder over here doing his schtick calling out Joshua with a devastating KO win over Whyte. It's a shame he doesn't want it. A bigger shame would be the DW AJ fight never happening but we have plenty of time.
Don't forget Bellew. He could double book Goodison Park on a rainy summer night. It's booming in the UK now.
whytes getting better fight choices then most.. beat browne.. and nnow has povetkin or pulev lined up... not gonna have a bad resume... if it ends up with W vs chisora browne and either of pulev or povetkin... if he could win it would propel him to#3 or #4 hw in the world iin my books.
I knew Breazeale wouldn't take it, said before that a shot at Wilder would be Brezeale's preferred route, he's already lost to Joshua and with Haymon advising Wilder and Breazeale that was an easy fight to make. IBF not having much luck arranging an eliminator there were rumours of Miller/Pulev first. Not sure Whyte will want it with him being WBC's number 1 and almost guaranteed a shot at Wilder as long as he keeps winning. Hearn isn't stupid he knows he can use Whyte as leverage if he's named WBC mandatory, as Wilder will have no choice but to fight Whyte for less or face Joshua to unify as a unification trumps a mandatory and perhaps squeeze down Wilder's percentage for a Joshua fight.
trouble IBF have is of there own making you have to pay the IBF to get a number 1 or 2 slot / they do not rank on merit but on how much they get paid.
No Haye is still a bigger draw than Povetkin or Whyte. Haye/Bellew fight saw them fill the O2 and they shared a combined purse for £7 million, Haye got £4.2 mill and Bellew got £2.8 mill. That's more than Povetkin makes or Whyte makes. Rabinsky bid $7.1 mill for the Wilder/Povetkin fight which was more than Hearn was offering Wilder for a voluntary, so I'd assume Povetkin is also a bigger draw than Whyte. The crowd for Whyte/Browne looked pretty big though, he's probably on a par with Parker and Wilder as a draw. Maybe a bit more. I can only see his popularity growing as he keeps winning.
God, if Whyte turns it down I hope they don't offer it to Miller. He would turn it down too, since he's looking at an AJ fight anyway. Would be funny, though, having three consecutive fighters turn it down in a row. I wonder who will wind up being the opponent? Takam?
Looking at their performances against Chisora, Pulev would be the likely favourite, unless of course as you say he's declined, you have to question his commitment as of late. Should be a competitive fight if it happens.
Looking at the IBF top 10, Takam/Pulev does seem to be the most likely fight that could happen, everyone else as better options than facing Pulev for peanuts.
