Correct ruling. Mess of a fight. Cunningham should've been stopped in the 1st, but then when it was stopped, it benefited Hernandez who was getting beaten up.

A good clean rematch should clear things up as both deserve a 2nd chance, USS because the scores were close but started dominating, while YPH because USS went dirty worsening the cut.

Agree... The ref made it a controversial mess.

I expect Hernandez to win the rematch though, by TKO

I really don't think the ref should have stopped it in the first. Can you explain to me why you disagree? (honest question... not trying to argue)

Hernandez has zero chances to win a rematch USS knows him now. he had all of Hernandez weapons completely neutralized as the fight went on. there won´t be any surprises anymore. unless they pull another fraud to rob Cunningham off it will be an easy win for him. the winner also has to fight Ross within a couple of month as per IBF ruling as far as i got it whats also a great thing..

I thought USS was able to get up looked capable of defending himself right after he got dropped, and then to support that he went on and won every round after.

Zero chance seems a bit harsh, considering that Hernandez has the power to one punch KO a fresh Cunningham in a first round. Cunningham is a crafty fighter but Hernandez may very well land a flush shot somewhere in the rematch who knows what will happen then.

i dont get the controversy at all

i mean Hernandez was winning and they stopped it from a cut it happens all the time

I know Cunningham was coming on strong but so was Dawson vs Pascal

I mean what would you rather the ref and doc say to Hernandez hey listen we wanna stop the fight but he is coming back and we would prefer giving him one more round so he can keep his title sorry about the cut

it doesnt usually happen that way

i remember the RBR that night and all these ppl posting how they had hernandez ahead and then complained when hernandez got the decision

not to mention he was clearly changed after the cut

no cut and maybe Hernandez rolls along and keeps doing what he is doing

Correct decision, but Troy Ross also deserves justice.

That Bild article was silly---I take it that language is some kind of botched computer translation from the German? Cool that it's possible but the technology needs work.

I don't agree Hernandez is without chances. It seemed to me Hernandez has good fundamentals, a power advantage, almost equal reach, and an inch or two in height. Hernandez's problem was he appeared to be tiring while Cunningham is coming on, but then again that was also contingent on the injuries sustained from the headbutts. I can also see the Sauerland judges DQing Cunningham if he plays dirty.

All that said if Cunningham boxes smart he's got all the tools to take it.

It seems to me that Cunningham will always face an uphill battle fighting for Sauerland in Germany against home-base Sauerland fighters trained by Wegener. It may encourage him to move up to heavyweight where he could obtain money fights in the States.
