Just read in the news that the IBF refused to sanction a title bout between Wladimir Klitschko and James Toney. Apparently an offer has been made to Toney, but the IBF decided that he's been inactive for too long.

Toney was of course quick to blame Klitschko saying that Wladimir used his influence over the IBF officials to avoid fighting Toney. The critical flaw in Toney's logic is that Wladimir did not HAVE to make him an offer in the first place if he wanted to avoid him.

This is the second occasion of a Wlad vs Toney fight falling through. The first was a few years back when Toney was offered a fight for $1.5 million but claimed it wasn't enough. Toney then went on and fought Sam Peter for some $1.1 million. For an ex-pusher JT seems to have mediocre math skills.

It's a shame this fight isn't happening. Seeing Toney KOd would have been priceless.

Toney appears determined to completely embarrass himself. He's shot to **** nowadays.

I have no urge to see Toney stopped. I would rather he retire. I agree with the IBF here. Toney could always pull through a surprisingly good performance, but seeing his last fight and his second fight with Peter makes me extremely doubtful that would happen. If he fights Wladimir, just due to his instinctual brilliance, he might have a flash or two of what he used to be but I think he'd end up going out on his shield. Don't need to see that.

If this is true then Wlad is the biggest ***** on the planet. So he has to wait until Toney is so ridiculously past his best that he represents no risk at all before he will give him a fight. Toney was never a good HW and his career in general was finished years ago, but now Wlad wants to fight him? What a ****ing dick.

It could also be due to absence of any other opponent in the HW division. Haye and Povetkin apparently are scared of the Klits.

As his fight with Wlad has just falled apart, Toney has no one left to blame but himself instead of ridiculously accusing the IBF or the Klitschko camp. Fighters earn their title shots by fighting, not by running their mouths. Toney could have fought a few bums, just as Rahman did, in order to position himself within lower echelons of the rankings.
Toney needs to make a quick decision now: either to retire or to get in the ring (Holyfield's November would be the perfect opportunity).

you would think that with toney fighting for the IBF belt all his career and paying them sanctioning fees that they would let him fight, allthough i dont wana see this fight

By offering Toney a fight he was clearly listening to who the fans wanted to see him fight. No one is keen on him fighting Chisora or Mormeck and Toney has been suggested by a lot of people on here since the December 11th date came out. Seems like he was just listening to the fans

Pretty embarrassing if Klitschko's team tried to even get the fight sanctioned.
