To some it's embarrassing either way you slice it it seems. WK calls Toney out - embarrassing. WK isnt't calling Toney out - embarassing. Go figure.

So instead of Klits Vs Haye or Povetkin or some worthy opponent the most dominant heavyweight champion of this era is left with Toney as a choice?

Give David Tua or Kali Meehan a shot. They'll lose but at least you know they'll give it a fair shot

I'd really like to see Holyfield Toney 2. Evan Fields didn't bring his A game to the 1st fight.

It is really a shame that this fight is not happening. This is very disappointing especially as Toney has been a three time IBF champ. I mean what did Holyfield for example do prior to the Ibrahimgov?

The only possibiliy would be a Toney-Wlad only takes place for the WBO title belt. Does it really matter that much if the IBF is not involved?

    This is a complete joke.

Even as massive Toney fan, I think he would get crushed by Wlad at this time in their careers.

However, recently the major organizations have given a shot-to-**** and medically suspect Evander Holyfield a title shot, they have given the woefully inexperienced and undeserving Albert Sosnowski a title shot, and they have given the elderly asthmatic small hall club fighter Shannon Briggs a title shot...

...so how the **** can they deny James Toney one now??! :-(

It should have happened years ago. IMO the Klits really messed up in not chopping James and Holyfield down. Their US names have suffered because they never destroyed the big names. James, in particular, has always had that extra gear that comes with his mouth. Nobody can promote a fight like Toney can.

Thank God Welliver is ready to step up.

It is obvious that because of his big mouth, Toney does not have a lot of friends in boxing. Though he has been a three time IBF champ in the past, the IBF would rather sanction Chisora-Wlad than Toney-Wlad.

I still would like to see Wlad-Toney for the WBO belt than Wlad-Chisora for all the belts but I understand that the fight is now off.As for Toney, he should face Tony Thomposon in Detroit in December and a tune up in realy 2011 which will secure him a title shot next year.

Who ever heard of a boxing sanctioning body that was worried about the good of the sport or the welfare of the boxers?

I couldn't agree more with the statement about beating a "big name opponent" was a lost opportunity. Boxing isn't about beating the best, it's about making you appear like you are beating the best.

    ****ing bull****.

So is the fight definitely off or could they fight for just WBO/IBO vs. IBA unification?

IBF couldn’t strip Wlad for that, because he just fought their mandatory against Peter

I was no advocate of the Chisora fight but I'd rather see that than him fight Toney.
