Self doubt he had so much confidence he actually told Froch exactly what he would do at the press conference, and he did it Groves has amazing self confidence if he didn't he would have crumbled when him and Booth split but no he went in with a new trainer to the biggest fight of his life with almost everyone against him and outboxed Froch.

 

Pitty he didn't use all this confidence and brainpower in round 9

On a serious note he is a confident lad and is driving a hard bargain and who can blame him. But at the end of the day he should just get it on and take the 15%

 

If he's as good as he says he is, and if he can beat Froch as easily as he says he can, then WHY jeopardise the rematch, by making waves about money etc ?
Why not take the original offer, beat Froch like him and his fans believe he will, and then move on to bigger and better things Stateside, with the bargaining power that being a belt holder brings ?
Does George think he may have blown his chance of beating Froch (element of surprise, sloppy, over confident Froch, first round KD etc) and is now trying to bolster his bank balance in case he gets beaten legitimately in a rematch ?
Or maybe George doesnt fancy the rematch, and is kicking up a fuss and trying to spoil a potential rematch, so that he can walk away looking like the moral victor, and not losing face ?
Bravado is nothing like mental toughness.

Unlikely. He kicked Carl's arse for most of the fight. He knows he's faster than him, more skilled than him and hits harder than him. There isn't much reason for him to believe he can't beat Froch.

 

You can't argue with that, but you have also missed the fact that somehow even though he is older Froch has a better engine, he also has a better chin

So what happened after round 6 in the last fight ?

Why wasn't he slipping and countering as he had done during the earlier rounds ?

Why was he backing into the ropes, and/or choking Froch, every time Froch unloaded in the last couple of rounds ?

Why did he allow himself to be pinned against the ropes in the 9th round ?

Groves had everything going for him in the first fight, yet he allowed the ref to mug him.

What is he going to do differently in the rematch ?

He couldn't put Froch away last time after dropping him heavily in the first round, and he was blowing like an old steam train after 5 rounds, even though he was only throwing in spurts.

He didn't. He was on the ropes for 3 - 5 seconds. Anyway boxers often fight off the ropes.

You can't be serious. All he did was expect fair treatment from the ref.

Have a competent, fair referee hopefully. Not to mention valuable experience from the 1st fight.

He doesn't need to finish him. Fights can be won on points ya know. They both looked tired to me. The difference was everybody thought Groves was miles ahead on the scorecards so Froch was pushing forward desperately thinking he needed KD's or a KO whereas Groves was just trying to see the fight out, like when football teams time waste when they're winning.

Regardless, it's very unlikely that Groves doesn't think he can win or doesn't want the fight. It just doesn't make sense. If anyone is/was thinking that way, it's Froch.
