IBF to order Alaxender to defend within 90 days

It's sad that now world titles aren't as prestigious and he's most likely to give it up if it gets staged in the UK because he doesn't fancy leaving his country to defend a world title and would rather just drop the title instead.

 

Yeah, but, why should Alexander -- the more recognized and established fighter -- travel to country of a no-name to defend his own title?

I have no qualms with GBP wanting to stage it in St Louis, to be honest. That's where Alexander sells. He's the champion, after all. It's not the most outrageous thing for the champion to ask the challenger to fight in his back yard.

(With that said, Alexander's hometown decisions don't help )

 

We know Hearn has faith in Brook, we'll see how much faith GBP have in Devon come the purse bids. Hearn might get PPV and put a huge undercard on...

 

What are the timescales likely to be for pursebids to be in?

 

Alexander clearly lost to both Kotelnik and Matthysse. But I haven't yet seen anything from Brook which makes me confident he could beat him.

Talented fighter - yes, enjoyable to watch - good god no.

Not so confident about Brooks chances, dont think he'll wipe the floor with Alexander like how some are predicting, think its a 50/50. But Alexander wont come out his comfort zone regardless of the paycheck so i too expect him to vacate.

 

This. Devons a level above anything that Kells been in with. I hope the fights can be made and hope Kell wins. But its a step up and will be a close thing either way

 

I'd be very surprised if this fight happens. The two robberies in St Louis will probably discourage Brook from travelling and I doubt Alexander will be visiting Sheffield any time soon. Also doubt if this fight would sell much at a neutral venue.
If it did by some miracle happen I'd have to favour Brook. He has obvious flaws we all go on about but I don't think DA is the fighter to capitalise on them. He's fast but not particularly skilled (Kotelnik made him look like a shocking novice) and would be handily picked apart by the greater variety of the more accurate Brook. Don't get me wrong, Brook will be found out soon enough. Just not by the rather ordinary Alexander.

 

It might actually be a bit of blessing for Brook if Devon vacates.

I don’t like this fight for Kell. Devon is a nightmare to box, horrible to watch to…. I can see him frustrating the life out of Kell. And lets be honest, Brook doesn’t have any experience of note to help him come through a fight like this.

Alexander is quicker than Brook, and id say he has sharper footwork to.

 

I'm watching Alexander vs Matthysse at the moment and you're quite right. If he's allowed to get away with that horrendous holding and spoiling he does it could be the most difficult obstacle for Brook to overcome. I'd forgotten what a pain DA is.

Edit-Ledermans scoring is disgraceful as usual. Alexander won round six? Really Harold? You can make jokes about how he should have gone to Spec Savers all you want but I think he's just a corrupt old tit.

 

I like Brook, & I think he might be the real deal.

It just worries me how under prepared he is for a fighter like Alexander. I know he is a middleweight but Brook could do with fighting someone like Bika. N'Dou was just to shot to count.

I think Devon beats him (& im a massive Brook fan) he just doesn't have the experience to deal with such an akward **** like DA.

I think you may just be wrong, after all he did grow up in the ingle camp from a child,

 

Thing is I seriously doubt Brook would go to St Louis where AK schooled Devon to an embarrassing degree and LM just basically beat him up and there's no way Alexander would get away with that **** in the UK. So it's all moot I suppose.
