Hey everyone, Just curious, I'm getting confused, are all professional boxers members of the IBF or WBA or WBC or not? for instance if a British boxer is licensed under the BBBofC will he have to be a member of one of the IBF or other organizations. If not, how does one fight with one of those organizations, do you have to be an elite boxer, can any pro boxer become a member of lets say for example the WBC and how does on get world title shots with the WBA, WBC or IBF. Is it literally just become a member of one of them and working your way up, fighting the best, being an exciting fighter and of course being a good fighter. I'm just kind of confused with all these belts and different championships of how the pro boxing game works.
Has nothing to do with being licensed by any commission. It all comes down to money, paying sanctioning fees to fight for a sanctioning bodies belt, and getting ranked also. Many fighters come out of obscurirty having fought nobody notable and they get ranked in the top 10.....thats all from money passed from a promoter to the WB*/IBF.
hmm I see, all these different belts are confusing me. How did maidana go from fighting nobody noticeable in countries like germany, argentina, panama, to suddenly fighting big fights in the US against ortiz? sorry if these questions sound stupid, but I'm still learning on how this sport works when it comes to pro fighters!
