The IBF did away with Next day weigh in for unification bouts.

But this isn't a unification is it? Does ring magazine really count?

Canelo has no belt to unify, there should be a weigh in.

Who ever wins this fight becomes or remains the unified Champion.

How is it not a unification.

The reason for the change of rule according to the IBF is because a fighter will skip the 2nd weigh in since he is still fighting for other titles.

    unification
    noun
    noun: unification; plural noun: unifications
the process of being united or made into a whole.

GGG's titles are already unified. This fight is not part of that process.

I get what your saying but the wording is incorrect. The IBF should be saying multiple titles, not unifications because this bout doesn't qualify as a unification.

OMG, are you guys seriously that anal. LOL

The point of that rule is so that they continue to be part of the mix so they can get their sanctioning fees, otherwise some opponents will be content fighting for the WBC, WBA, or WBO and skip the IBF.

Yes, the next day after the fight there will be no need for a weigh in.

Like I said I know where the IBF and yourself are coming from but by definition this is not a unification.

OK, but the point of the rule remains, not sure what the problem is. IBF wants to be in the mix, so instead of getting sidelined in title fights where more than one ABC organization has their belt up for grabs, they are simply getting in line with the other ABCs so that they don't run the risk of not being in the mix.

Not sure what all the fuss is about.
