It seems the IBF have stated the upcoming fight between Pulev v Chisora is also a world title eliminator. Not sure how this affects the upcoming Parker v Takam bout as the IBF had previously stated the winner of that bout would be the mandatory challenger to the winner of Martin v Joshua. Perhaps the IBF have changed their mind?

Pulev ranked 11 in the IBF
Chisora ranked 13 in the IBF

Parker ranked 6 in the IBF
Takam ranked 5 in the IBF

Now WTF is the IBF doing lifting these lower ranked fighters into a title shot, while the negotiations are nearly complete for Takam vs Parker...?

Maybe Parker/Takam are taking too long to sort their shxt out - can they lose the opportunity and forfeit the mandatory?

They had to the 11th March to finalise things, but since agreements have been set for May 21st and drug testing sorted, I would assume the only things that it came down to was the purse bids.

Now if that is all coming along, why would Pulev vs Chisora be a title eliminator?

I can understand that the winner of these two could be penciled in to be the next chance of a title shot after either Parker or Takam has their go, but to side step negotiations and jump ahead doesn't make sense...

But then, boxing doesn't make sense sometimes...

Edit: Pulev is ranked 8 and Chisora is 9.

I was looking at old fightnews rankings from last month.

Pulev easy UD or late rounds stoppage.

Chisora has never been true world level and Pulev is.

    Location : Hamburg, Germany

IBF - HEAVYWEIGHT (OVER 200 LBS) Voluntary Eliminator for #2
    Promoter : Sauerland Event
Boxer Kubrat Pulev Nat BGR VS Boxer Derek Chisora NatZWE

IBF Rule: 9.F. Voluntary Elimination Bout
Nothing in this Rule shall preclude promoters from negotiating a bout between any
two (2) of the top five (5) leading available contenders for the #1 or #2 positions, which
bout is subject to the approval of the Championships Chairman and the President. The
IBF/USBA encourages promoters to negotiate such voluntary elimination bouts.

If I am reading this correctly, the Pulev vs Chisora bout is for the #2 position and the higher ranked Parker vs Takam bout if the #1 position.

I can quite work out if the #1 and #2 square off against each other, but I assume the #1 will have first crack at title and #2 be next crack.

Hence there is currently no rating for 1 and 2 in the HW division: http://www.ibfusbaregistration.com/ibfusba_02APR2014/index.php/ratings/ibf-ratings

Hope you're right, otherwise it seems unfair for Parker and Takam

Looks more fair that way. I expect a wide UD for Pulev.

Looks like Pulev will be challenging for a title again.

Parker/Takam will be a final eliminator to determine the mandatory which is gue in January 17

Chisora/Pulev is an eliminator, not a final eliminator. The winner wont be garanteed a shot at the title, or rankjed higher than the Parker/Takam winner.

(If AJ and Chisora both win then id bet good money thats his first defence)

If Chisora/Pulev isn't an eliminator for a mandatory position, what is it an eliminator for? Rather confusing! Cheers
