According to the news American dominated abc org IBF has informed Lukas Konecny's promoter that his boy has lost the opportunity to fight D.Latimore in an IBF eliminator for the nr.1 spot and mandatory challenger status. Why????
Because Konecny fought a Russian on a Russian fight show a couple of days ago.
So what, you will probably ask, wont you!
Well, the Czech broke IBF's rules by taking an interim fight after agreeing to take part in an IBF ordered eliminator

On top of that all, according to the news, not only has Konecny lost the eliminator fight but he will also be dropped in the rankings below the nr.10 spot for at least 6 months.
Latimore will now probably face his American compatriot Sechew Powell.
I dont get it ! Konency fights a tough Russian on the Russian's home turf,is victorious, and gets kicked out of the eliminator.
I guess Konecny was on the point of going beserk when he learnt the news!

I truly pity the Czech. He is now 31 years old,and has a fight record of 41 victories and 3 losses.
All of his three losess were highly debatable and controversial. He gave hell to the classy Ukranian operator Dzindziruk who is probably one of the most underrated champs out there.
He was robbed against Varon on Spanish soil, and had Piccirillo down and almost out in round 2 of their encounter. He twice beat Khoren Gevor and beat former european champ Colas in one of his last outings to a ring.
He is no flashy ko artist and o a master pugilist whose fights are pure fun to watch, but he is a hard working guy who always does his best inside a box ring.He has as big a heart as a Siberian tiger.Bloody tough cookie with a outstanding attitude towards his chosen profesion and an impressive determination to win his fights.
He deserves that eliminator fight......more so than Latimore. Makes me sad and my blood boil at the same time that he gets kicked out of an eliminator fight because he has dared to stay active in the meantime.
Damn! I hate these abc orgs!! I really do!

This is all Don King. The IBF president Marian Muhaummed has a long history of giving King fighters unjustified title shots. Many great fighters have been stripped by the IBF for weak reasons. Forrest, Wright, Calzaghe, Margarito to name a few. And yet when King's Zab Judah lost to Baldomir at 147, Judah was allowed to retain his IBF 147 title. Powell may already have a contract with King. The IBF champ- Spinks along with Latimore already belong to King.

Boxing is as corrupt as american politics.
Money talks, promoters might as well be lobbyists.

True it's bull****.Konecny not only was ****ed but I'd say is a good fighter and would deserve a title eliminator.

Powell and Latimore have already reached a agreement.

Konency went to war with Dzindziruk. Many ring oberservers thought that he had won that fight.I didnt think so,but their encounter was a bloody close one.Toughest fight in Dzindziruk's career up to now.

Latimore? Apart from Powell and Spinks he has faced extremely limited opposition.Konency for sure has fought better opposition. However,he has no American passport which is a huge disadvantage in the world of pro boxing.

The problem is, the IBF has to stick rigorously to their rules. They are still under the watchful eye of the courts and can't bend on anything. Which is good. Nobody gets favored, except for the ones that follow the rules diligently.

A unfortunate by product is that when someone unwittingly doesn't follow the rules, they get punished.

But, it is far better than the likes of a Jose Sulaiman making arbitrary decisions on stuff like this where each case ends up with a different outcome on a whim and nothing is fair.

BUT...it still seems surprising that a fighter of Konecny's experience doesn't know the rule. Which might lead to the conclusion that he did know the rule and has a better option lined up already rather than take an eliminator where he might just be eliminated.

Looking at his rankings, we find that he is#3 in the WBO, with only Cintron and Williams ahead of him. And there's TWO title holders, Dzinziruk and Angulo.

He's probably already lined up for a rematch with Dzinziruk since it was a majority decision.

If I were to take a wild guess, I think they deliberately skipped out on the TOUGHER IBF elimination system and are opting for an easier WBO title shot.

    Just a wild guess.

Skipped-deliberately-out on the tougher IBF elimination,eh!
You must be either joking or making fun of us if you think that any fight fan out there truly thinks that Latimore is a tougher fight than the classy operator Dzindziruk from the Ukraine.

Apart from losing to Spinks and scoring a victory over Sechew Latimore has only beaten a bunch of bouncers and janitors. In terms of faced competition the Czech plays in a different league than Latimore.
Dont get me wrong though! The Czech is no potential long reigning super champ. Not at all :shame: .

Anyway! I for my part would surely not mind watching a rematch between the Czech and Dzindziruk, but I somehow doubt that their encounter will ever come off.
Dzindziruk will soon be American based.Konecny is a very capable fighter, but little known outside his native Czech Republic. He is able to sell out a 16.000 seat arena in Praha, but wont draw more than 300 spectators in any other country.
Dzindziruk wont return to europe to fight for peanuts unless he is forced to in order to defend his title against his mandatory challenger.

I agree with the first part altough to be fair that looked more like Dzinziruk had an off night.

Disagree on the second.Latimore beat Powell and had a great fight and a very close one with Spinks. He deserves one eliminator aswell.
Powell is the man adding to much in the ecuation here.

I'm a big fan of Konecny and hope he gets another shot. Definitely an avoided fighter, tough as nails.

I thought i remembered seeing a ruling about Dzinziruk and his promoters recently. I'm pretty sure they won the case and Dzinziruk is stuck with them.

Maybe cause they have contenders waiting ?? And if he lost his opponent would assume that he takes his spot which the IBF couldnt promise??

that being said there is no way that guys fighting regular should be punished certinaly not if they win !!!

forget the corrupt promoters and sactioning bodies if you keep winning regular there aint nothing they can do bout it !!!

I see you didn't like the responses you got on boxrec.com so you came here for some support. My opinion hasn't changed. It's his promoter's fault and not the IBF. The rules are the same for everybody. It's his job to know them and respect them. Hundreds of fighters have had to respect those rules over the years. Why should he get a free pass when the others didn't?
