The International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) recently disclosed their 2010 inductees. Congratulations to all of the new inductees. I will not mention their names only because they can be found at the IBHOFs website. They only inducted two fighters whom I am not familiar with. Does anyone want to talk about them, and familiarize the rest of us who they are and what they have done to deserve such a prestigious accolade? Also, I wondered why there were only two fighters inducted, and why none from from the last 20 years. I truly believe that the last 20 years was the greatest golden age of boxing, and probably close to 40 to 50 boxers should be inducted into the IBHOF. I am giving only a rough estimate as I have not listed all of them myself, but we can all admit there were a lot of great fighters in this generation. Of course I may be slightly bias in saying that these last 20 years was the greatest golden age of boxing since I have only been watching boxing during that time, and have not watched much before that, but my gut feeling tells me that I am right. With 40 to 50 boxers who can be inducted into the IBHOF, their admission committee better get ready for a large flood of inductions in the next few years. My concern is the conservative nature of the IBHOF. Also, I am not exactly sure how they choose fighters to be inducted. What is their criteria, if any? Anyhow, the IBHOF is an independent institution that has the right to choose whomever they want to be inducted, but it is also an institution that everyone is looking at carefully to watch their favorite and great boxers be admitted to. There is no other Hall of Fame list more worthy for now.
