Paz has no business beiing there...hes in there so the hall of fame can sell more tickets... Expect Jake Paul to be there in the future that's how bad the HOF is.
If women like that are entering the International Boxing Hall of Fame, every male boxer who ever won a meaningless belt, including Manuel Charr, deserves to be in Canastota. It's just nonsense. Half of the people Anne Sophie Mathis fought didn't even have winning records, and they only fought two-minute rounds. She never engaged in fight that lasted longer than 20 minutes. Eight-rounders for men last longer than 20 minutes. If every female boxing champion with a winning record is going to get in, induct all the men, too.
Add me to the yay for Michael Nunn bandwagon. I had Pacquiao, Benn, Eubank, Nunn and Kessler down in that 5 choices list. Pacquiao felt obvious, of course, but I probably would have expected Nunn to be left out.
Not exactly blockbuster peers for Pacquiao. Double-edged sword there...he gets to be "prettiest girl at the dance", but also, maybe dragged down a bit by his fellow inductees, in future generations' eyes? Time will tell I guess. Kind of weak women's class, too. I like Mathis, glad she's getting in, and the others are solid choices - just, no real huge star power there. Not that you'll find much in women's boxing...since Laila Ali we've had Cece B., Delfine Persoon, Katie Taylor, Claressa Shields and - yeah that might be about it.
I would say dragged down by his fellow inducTEE, singular. There's nothing with Mike Nunn getting in. Nunn was a helluva lot better fighter than Bradley, Froch, and McGirt, who made it in recent years. Paz should only be there sweeping the floors.
Oh yeah, to be clear, Nunn is levels above Paz and not undeserving. But then, I'd say he's also below Pac by as big a margin.
Accomplishment wise? Yes, Nunn is way below Pac. Peak wise? Even if the answer is Pac, it's not by leaps and bounds. Pac doesnt have one of the more awesome primes of all time. Pac is more great than good, if that makes sense. The 88 Nunn in a P4P matchup might very well beat Pacquiao.
We all knew Pac was a lock. I'm very happy to see Nunn get in. Nunn had a run where he beat Frant Tate, Juan Roldan, Sumbu Kalambay, Iran Barkley, Marlon Starling and Donald Curry one right after another. His next fight was the loss to fellow hall of famer James Toney. Just think about fighting those seven guys in a row. That is a hell of a group of styles to have to prepare for. No filler at all. I'm with the rest of you regarding Paz. No way does he below in the hall of fame.
Three completely disparate tiers of nominee, really. Pac - should be first-ballot, top of his class in virtually any era, bona fide ATG. Nunn - should get in eventually, maybe his first year eligible, maybe not, it's honestly cool either way. I believe this was his second year of eligibility? (after finishing his lengthy prison bid in 2019) Pazienza - wtf? And people shat on Gatti getting in for - well, they still continue to. Paz has I guess technically lateral claim to Gatti (both are two division champs in non-consecutive weight classes) and he was probably every bit as much a crowd favorite - but otherwise, oof. Much weaker claim than the guy many use as the poster boy for why they don't take IBHOF induction seriously. Gatti was 7-2 in world title bouts; Pazienza was 2-6. Gatti was only ever outclassed by true greats (DLH & PBF); Pazienza was handled several times in his prime, pre-accident.
Paz made it, that’s just awful. I’d hate to say it but I think Wilder may get in now. No standards anymore

A popularity/notoriety contest. Like him or not Kenny's the most talked-about ref since Steve Smoger, probably.
