go bika, absolute animal, wish he cashed in on his fame straight after the contender though he would of made a killing, him and miranda fight would of been ppv material in america.... manfredo is a name so a win against him keeps him right in the spot light.. thanks for the news phil.
My pleasure Maco. As I think someone else said they were banking on the charasmatic, well-spoken American Codrington winning - Sakio kind of threw a spanner in the works
I'd also like to draw your attention to Ruben Santillanosa. He lost the IBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title clearly on points, yet his next fight was for the IBO Asia Pacific featherweight title, where he got knocked out KO4. Both of these were for vacant titles. I don't believe that Ruben would have been the highest ranked available contender at featherweight. Another example of you putting money ahead of the credibility of the sport and IBO. One shot at the title is enough!
Yep it's all my fault Barge! Ruben fought well against Tommy Browne a two-time world title challenger. The opponent Browne was scheduled to face pulled out at short notice and Ruben fought in his place and pushed Tommy the entire way. A fighter has never lost a title fight and then gone on to fight for another one in his next fight has he? rather than trying to pick an argument with me, you would be better off researching your boxing history.
Is it your aim to drive away good posters? we are lucky to have them posting on this site, they are kind enough to give us some inside info? You period seams to be never ending Barge .
My posting shouldn't in any way drive Phil away from ESB. That is not my intention. I just want some answers to questions that many boxing fans have. The IBO claim to be about "Honesty. Integrity. Trust.", however, Phil's statements seen to contradict this.
Thanks Marcus Far from it Barge, you just refuse to see what I am saying and to be honest I don't see the point of banging my head against a brick wall. I have explained the situation regarding those fights but quite simply you are just sticking to your guns regardless. I think a lot of what the IBO has done recently backs up our motto, if you don't want to see it then that is entirely up to you
Last year, Sairung Suwanasil got a shot at the vacant IBO Asia Pacific super flyweight title in Indonesia. he had lost 3 fights in a row in the lead up to that fight. Falazona Fidal also had a less than impressive record leading up to that fight. the result was a KO 5 win to Fidal. my guess is you were responsible for signing off on that fight. where is the integrity in sanctioning a title shot like this? As long as nobody holds you accountable Phil, this will continue. it is about time you made fighters earn a ranking or fight an eliminator before you give them a title shot. I am certain the PABA force this more often than you.
What? Like when Paz Viejo fought Peter Kariuki with a record of 1-3? Or Sean Sullivan who had lost 4 straight before fighting Azzoui? Birbal Junior had lost his previous contest to Paula Tuilau who you had such a issue with fighting for an IBO A/P Super Middleweight title before being knocked out in 2 rounds by Daniel Rowsell. Care for me to go on Barge? You really don't have much of an argument here and it certainly seems that your issue is more with me than anything else or you have another agenda
I think all the governing bodies are dealing with these issues, not just Phil and the IBO. What are the answers? Don't know, but it doesn't look good for boxing when these things happen.
None of these examples you used were for vacant title fights. all of these were voluntary defences by the champion. I'm not saying that excuses the other sanctioning bodies, but it is a different situation. Vacant title fights are meant to be the two highest ranked contenders. Phil, this isn't personal. i happen to admire your work as a referee. I'm just not sure you are sticking to the values of the IBO. When was the last time you forced an eliminator for the IBO Asia Pacific title? the WBA Pan african body forced Mundine and Matumla into an eliminator, with the winner getting a shot a Mpush Makembi. It makes the belts worth something and it gives the younger fighters something to aspire to. the PABA also have interim champions, i'm yet to see this from IBO Asia Pacific. Anyway, i'll stop carrying on with this now. I've said enough.
