Holyfield fought like a man. A real man. Ibragimov proved he was from Russia, cause he was "Russian" away from Holyfield. :fire
Anyone here think maybe he has respect for holy? If I could fight him and win by decision at this point in his career or possibly **** his old ass up with a brutal ko I think id just coast to a decision. But then again im not a boxer, so ...
Ibragimov did the same thing against Briggs. When he had Briggs and Holy set up for some serious hurtin he scooted away instead of giving his opponent the chance of landing a hard counter punch. He must prefer discretion over valor when it comes to getting caught with a big counter punch. He kind of reminds me of when Michael Spinks was campaigning as a heavyweight. Hop on, hop off, leave 'em confused and not throwing anything because there's nothing to hit.
While I'm certainly not a fan of Ibragimov, I think it's wrong to criticize him so harshly for sticking to a very effective and ultimately successful game plan. I know tactical and defensive fighters are mostly frowned upon in the US, but it simply needs a better opponent to beat him and you can't expect someone to give up on a winning strategy, just to satisfy his critics.
That's it. Ibragimov used to be a swarmer, but Jeff Mayweather has apparently refashioned him into a tactical outside boxer. Not a bad thing, but really he could have taken more chances against Evander with little fear of reprisal and probably stopped him.
At least he listens to his trainer, and sticks to his gameplan - which is more than you can say about most boxers!
