Sure, the Sultan vs Briggs fight was not as action packed as some would like. But Sultan did box impressively in and out ,while not getting hit and landing. Sultan displayed good handspeed and footspeed.

Can you blaim Sultan for not being any more agressive than he had to? Sultan was fighting a massive, steroid ridden, ****ing idiot with one punch power. Sultan could of made one mistake and been caught.

sultan is a solid fighter with some definite upside. I underrated him a smidge against briggs but i think he could stand to lose 10-15 pounds. IMO, Wlad and Vitali steamroll him. I just dont think he has the firepower and/or rock solid chin to keep them honest. Peter, Ruslan, Oleg, Brock, Byrd, Lamon, Alexander would be pick'em. Everyone else he should handle including Valuev and Ruiz.

I've only seen his fight with Briggs, and his first round KO over Javier Mora on YouTube, based on that, I'm pretty impressed with his skills. He's quick handed, crafty, and his punches look pretty hard. But the fact that he fought to a draw with Ray Austin kind've makes me scratch my head, but I guess it's entirely possible that he just had a bad night. All in all, he should give Chagaev a run for his money, but I don't think he'll be able to beat him.

I couldn't agree more. By all rights, Chagaev, IMO, is ATLEAST #2 heavyweight in the world, right now. He's accomplished more than Samuel Peter, yet everybody seems to think that Peter is the best thing since blowjobs. And if he unifies, I'll be questioning whether Wladimir still deserves to looked upon as #1.

I am not at all impressed by Ibragimov. I really think Chagaev is going to handle him easily. Chagaev has a much better chance at becoming undisputed.

True. Chagaev should be ahead of Peter in Ring's rankings.

The only HW who has a shot at becoming unified is Wlad. The man is head and shoulders above any current HW. no pun

Believe me you aren't alone. Peter's claim to fame is beating Toney, which now seems like a very mediocre accomplishment. Chagaev arguably has the second best resume with wins over Valuev, Virchis and Ruiz, two of those men being in The Ring's top ten with one of them, Ruiz, only exiting it about two weeks ago. The Ring's ratings make very little sense as they don't seem to really take accomplishments into account. The winner of Chagaev vs Ibragimov should be universally recognized as the number two heavy, and possibly the number one.

I've been on the Sultan bandwagon since 2004. I'm not jumping off now.

    GO SULTAN!!!!!

I can agree to that. It is truly amazing how underrated Chagaev is. He is smart, strong, has a solid chin and punch, great skill and stamina. However people still lavish Sam Peter with praise and for what reason I really don't know.

What's the point discussing this when Wlad is a better fighter than both of these guys? ... and I've got nothing to do with Wlad's nutsack.

The winner of Chagaev and Sultan will certianly be the best heavyweight on the planet, as far as credentials, record, and titles go. That is without question.

But we all saw how Wlad steemrolled through Byrd, Brock, and Austin. He destroyed all three like they were not even there. And those destoryer type wins are certainly more decisive and concrete, than what Chag did against Valuev, and what Sultan did against Briggs. Wlad also handily took Peter's best shots, got back up and went on to beat Peter, and even rocked him on bended knee in the last round.

That said, the Chag Sultan winner will be the best heavyweight on paper, but we all know that Wlad is better than either of these guys, and will prove it, given the chance.

Well, I guess I gotta agree.

He didn't really take his best shots, as that implies that he was hardly affected by them. He WAS affected by them, although most of the KD shots were to the back of the noggin. :blood (but if Wlad was turning his head as Peter was throwing, what do you expect?)

Anyway, let's just say that Wlad weathered Peter's best shots. And I think he did.

Peter landed, F L U S H on at least five occasions in that fight. And these were instances in which Wlad didn't fall. go back and watch the fight and keep a count of the times he nailed Wlad, flush, and he didn't fall. At least five times.

So he did weather his best shots, and I would say that that is impressive, when the punchers is someone with Peter's reputation as being a Conanesque destroyer.

That's a pretty negative outlook you have there bud......................I, for one, have seen some fairly good HW action lately with more on the horizon. Let's just say we're better off now than when Ruiz & Byrd held 2 of the belts.
