History has shown this. Charles got little respect when he decisioned an old Louis. Holmes did stop Ali but he didn't get much respect because he was an arrogant ***** who ducked challengers and rematches.
People say a prime Holyfield "struggled" with old Foreman and Holmes while he dropped only a few rounds in dominating performances.

Ibragimov needs a knockout or at the very least a stoppage like Toney did.

Either way, why should you respect the weakest heavyweight champion?

Ibragimov would lose to all other champions, maybe beating Maskaev/a slim chance to beat Peter...

Why should you not respect him? He was the one who wanted to fight Chagaev in a unification bout. He's carried himself with dignity and did the best to make the Briggs fight into something interesting which is a hard task.

I'm not saying he's the best out there or anything, but what has he done wrong? I do think he'd beat Maskaev convincingly and has a decent shot at beating Peter after seeing what McCline did to him..

I respect Ibragimov's speed and power. IF he is going to KO Evander, its going to be on volume of punches and overwhelming him. If, on the other hand, Evander can control the tempo, move and deliver a solid STRAIGHT right he has a chance.

I agree, Ibragimov NEEDS an impressive win and a KO would work... but anytime an unknown (relatively) beats a great fighter like that there will be backlash. Its a double edge sword.

Holyfield has now reached the age where he is George Foreman in the Holy v. Foreman fight of the early nineties. Time keeps on slipping into the future.

Holyfield was discredited when he did not take out Foreman, and especially Holmes, whom everyone thought Tyson retired a few years earlier.

If Holy is going to lose, I guess I would like to see him lose the way Louis did.
I have visions of a one sided Holmes vs. Ali meeting, I do not want to see that with Holy.

Taking this fight was only good for Iggy's pocket and a little toward legacy. It's actually a high risk/little reward type fight for him due to styles.

I think if Iggy wins a UD he still gains respect though. A split decision or draw would be negative...............
