I disagree, Iggy is currently the most boring fighter of the current title holders. I also feel he is the least threat to Wlad as well, leading to a one-sidded match. I feel alot of people including myself, would rather see him fight a Peter or Chagaev alot more than Iggy.:yep

I'd also rather see him fight Chagaev, but that don't seem to be doable, seeing as how Chag won't take such a fight after his ailment.

And I don't know about the rest of the board, but I'd rather see Wlad fight Ibragimov over a rematch with Peter. Especially after Peter's McCline fight.

Ibragimov has yet to be beaten, but PEter seems to be there for the taking. Now don't get me wrong; I'd love to see Peter get the beating that I feel only Wlad can give him, but in due time.

Ibrag is undefeated, and his style and his boxing skill would make for a better fight, right now, than a Peter rematch.

But that's a moot point regarding Peter, anyway. Cause Peter is not a titleholder, yet. And won't be unless he beats Oleg. (doubtful) So why even mention Peter regarding which titleholder would be the best fight?

Peter already is the title holder IMO, or at least soon to be. The last exciting fight Wlad fought was against Peter, as well as competitive.

If you started a poll asking who do you want to see Wlad face right now Peter, Chagaev, Iggy, I would bet a month off ESB that Iggy doesnt win, or even get the 2nd place spot. His matches are very boring, and would be a very easy match for Wlad, seeing that Iggys far from agressive anymore.

CLEARLY, the most exciting HW fight out there is Wlad v.s. Peter. Everyone knows it.

And before all the Wlad huggers start screaming that Sam Peter should still be in the amatuers blah blah blah... STOP. Please. No one cares. facts are facts and this is THE fight all real boxing fans want to see. It has a lot going for it and a lot to offer.

I agree, the only reason the Wlad/Iggy fight will even sell is because it will be a unification fight, then again the average fan probably rather see a good fight then unification.

If Wlads wins who really cares, its expected of him against such a weak title holder. I much rather see him fight real competition in Peter or Chagaev, a fight I could actually get pumped up for.

I not going to go into the longterm importance of unification and how this single fight would help the entire divsion, over what you preceive to be a mere, single, competitive fight, all over again. Been there, done that. But apparently you don't agree, so, to each his own. :good

Fair enough, unification is important, but whats unification if the fights being made are not competitive and exciting to watch. I understand every Wlad match is exciting to fans like yourself, but to the rest of us were not impressed.

The popularity of the heavywieght division is a joke, its not because of unification either. Vitali was very popular in the states after his fight with Lewis', people want to see guys that will go toe to toe with there oppenents and be able to take punches without going into a panic attack or clinching.

Since your both a Wlad and Vitali fan, even though Vitali never unified the belts, What made Vitali more popular than Wlad in your opinion?

I remember reading after Ibragimov's last fight that he was thinking about getting out of boxing because of the pain it causes his family. I think that Ibragimov might be taking this fight to cash in on the biggest payday out there for him before going into retirement.

I really don't see Ibragimov being very successful in this fight. Klitschko has a too many advantages and I question Ibragimov's motives for taking this fight.

    Klitschko tko8 Ibragimov

Dont mistake non-exciting fights for not having talent. Sam Peter fights exciting, but is **** for skills ,with no ****ing defense, slow handspeed that can be avoided , and has over-rated power and chin. Everyone thought Mccline had one foot in the grave when he took the fight, at 37 years old, recently losing to Zuri Lawerence, almost losing to Rob Calloway of FNF's ( In a fight which he looked like complete ****), his quick injury lose to Valuev. Despite that , Mccline had Peter out, all but finished after the 3 big KD's. Maskaev has been knocked out 5 times. Chagaev has 3 really close figths against Ruiz, Virchis, Valuev.

Sultan beat Shannon Briggs 11-1 , and Holyfield 10-2 in rounds. Sultan has a good defense, handspeed and is a very skilled boxer, now that he has a real trainer in Mayweather.

Klitschko Ibragimov Close To Being Signed

    29.10.07
    - By Matthew Hurley
    [eastsideboxing.com]

A heavyweight title unification match up between IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko, 49-3 with 44 KOs and World Boxing Organization champion Sultan Ibragimov, 22-0 with 17 KOs is close to finalization. According to Boxrec.com the bout is scheduled for February 23rd at Madison Square Garden and will be broadcast by HBO.

The camps of both fighters have been in negotiations for the past few weeks and the contract is close to being signed. Neither fighter has a mandatory defense scheduled by their respective sanctioning bodies and both fighters have expressed the desire to unify all the heavyweight title belts.

The last undisputed heavyweight champion was Lennox Lewis who gained universal recognition after winning a unanimous decision over Evander Holyfield on November 13th, 1999. Lewis retired after defeating Vitali Klitschko by a 6th round TKO in June of 2003 and the division has remained fragmented and disappointing ever since.

Wladimir Klitschko is coming off a victory over Lamon Brewster. Brewster had knocked out Klitschko in their first meeting but retired after six one-sided rounds in the rematch.

Sultan Ibragimov is coming of a decision victory over Evander Holyfield.

The hope seems to be starting to fade, now.......................these quotes from this brand new article don't sound too promising:

Looks like Sultan is looking for an out.............But I think some of us /most of us, knew this was going to happen.
