i thought iggy's chin held up well. wlad threw probably 1 right hand the first 6 rounds but after that, he landed some big shots. i really didnt think sultan could take his right hand. i underrated his chin and defense and i think he could give peter a lot of problems. i do agree if he fights too cautiously, he could lose by pts to peter. im sure we wouldnt see a ko either way. iggy doesnt have the power to end peter but iggy will not stand in front of peter thereby severely limiting his power punching imo, he could beat chagaev, valuev, and peter but could lose as well. those are all pick'em fights
Yeah, Iggy is like Ruiz in a sense, you just cant look good fighting a guy with a style like his, and he always will have the chance of beating anyone he gets in the ring with. I just hope he stays out of the ring for awhile, he's boring, and that's exactly what we dont need more of in the struggling division, we have enough already.
I think Ibragimov would probably beat Peter like he stole something. Not KO him, but Ibragimov would slip in and out, and would thoroughly outbox Peter. If Toney can do it at his age and being so obese, Ibragimov can certianly do it.
Come on Heavyrighthand, even an obese Toney is twice the boxer Iggy will ever be, the guy needs to retire, he's boring and is a terrible boxer, Peter would expose his suspect chin, which couldnt even take one straight right from Wlad, Peter on the other hand, ate those right hands up like a bucket of chicken wings. Iggy is nothing more than a B- fighter, he did nothing in his career to prove otherwise.
:rofl that **** was so funny when he was shaking his head after getting hit w/rights. but he sure wasnt eating up those shots later in the fight when he was doing the chicken dance and spurting blood. for all his faults, peter is very entertaining. i wish the rematch would happen in july instead of with senior citizen thompson. wlad should just let thompson have the bogus belt and fight peter. then again, deealing with king might be more trouble than it's worth
Well, I think it was the hook that made him do that dance, which took more than a couple rights to do. Peter cant fight Wlad anytime soon even if he wanted too, he got Vitali and the many cancellations that will soon follow, then after that mess, he will fight either Virchis or Gomez by the end of this year, early next year.
Ibragimov next opponent choice should be interesting. I'd love to see him fight Haye, next. But as the article says, I doubt Haye would fight Sultan, now. I think Ruiz is the best choice for Ibragimov to fight next. Ruiz is a very tough fight for anyone, and he seems to be back on track and gaining steem. And you know Ruiz would not turn the fight down. Ruiz will fight anyone, at anytime, anywhere, on any soil.
I agree, I might actually favor Iggy in this one. I think Haye is very overrated at this point, does he have power, speed, and skills? The answer is yes, but the fact that he seems to have a shaky chin and bad defense, doesnt bode to well for him when he moves up to Heavy, my perdiction still stands, Haye will be the next Razor Ruddick.
On the surface, it sounds as if they are confident in Ibrag's ability to knock Peter out. That's an odd thing to say, as Peter is not iron chinned as once thought, but he's far from someone who you'd name if you need a certain KO to impress everyone. Maybe they are merely trying to talk up another big fight for Ibragimov, regardless of if they really believe he'd be able to KO Peter, or not. Gotta come across as having supreme confidence in your fighter, even if you really believe it or not. I do think Ibrag would outbox Peter and be fast enough to avoid Peter's clubbing shots, but I doubt Ibrag would be able to KO Peter. Ibragimov by decision over Peter. Yes, I can see that.
That Ibragamov management team is going to have a very very difficult time selling any type of bout to the big networks right now. How much would you pay to get his name on a contract? The promoters and networks aren't just throwing $$ around like they used to & that effort he put in against Klitschko isn't going to bring in new viewers. They'll be hard pressed just to keep the previous viewers. So he'll be taking short money for sure to get any type of bout. With that in mind, with all the "safety first approaches" so many heavyweight managers take currently, exactly who is going to fight him? A victory over Ibragamov just doesn't count for much in March 2008 & its Ibragamov that needs the big win to get back in the scheme of things. The opponent's stock doesn't go up the ladder all that much with a victory, unless it's an up and comer. He stands a much better chance of getting frozen out for a few years. Or maybe becoming one of those guys that put in a lackluster effort and get licked again in an upcoming bout because the pay is so lousy compared to what he thinks he 's worth & comes in underprepared.
Then why is it that Wlad has had only 2 fights go the distance in the last 7 years... where Sam Peter has had 5 fights go the distance in his last 7 fights?:huh Especially considering that Wlad has fought much better competition...? If Sam Peter is such a bigger puncher, and a better finisher... how come Wlad has a better knockout ratio, and it was against better opponents?
Wlads knockout ratio or competition level was not what I was debating, but if you look deeper into the oppenents each men has fought, you will see, the oppenents Wlad did knockout, werent exactly known for having a granite chin, Brewster dont count, he was not a 100% and wasnt even close to being floored in that fight. Brock, average chin, Old Bryd, average chin, Peter, didnt knockout, Iggy, average chin, didnt knockout. Peter, Toney- granite chin, Mccline- good chin, Hawkins- average chin, Wlad- weak chin, had him down 3 times and should of knocked him out, Maskeav- weak chin, knocked him out. I dont see the huge difference between the two, I feel Peter would of easily been able to knockout Bryd, Brock, and Austin. I'm not a 100% sure he wouldve been able to get Iggy out of there, just like I'm not so sure Wlad would of knocked Toney out. Wlad started his career in 96, Peter I believe started in 01, of course Wlads going to have a better resume, with time you will see Peter get better and be unified champ of the world in another 2 years.
