not sure, maybe he just wants to take some time off after losing to wladimir in a one-sided beat down.
All I know is that he stated he wouldn't fight in 2008. Nothing planned for 2009 either. Maybe he's sufficient, earned enough money and has lost interest in boxing. I don't think we will see him competing for a title again, but these days you never know...
Despite have the same last name, and fighting on same bills (?) - I read somewhere they actually are not cousins.
I liked the guy,,, until the Wlad fight!!... Expected a much better effort out of him... he didnt do ****... just happy to go the distance in one of the worst HW championship fights in years. Thanks for nothin Barney. He should be fighting at cruiserweight anyway.
I've never liked the guy. He put on that no-show against Klitschko, and he's allowed his people to say disgraceful things about other fighters, such as when his camp accused Briggs of faking pneumonia when Briggs got seriously ill before the postponement of their fight. He doesn't have what it takes to get to the top. He's quick but to small and simply not good enough for the top guys right now. I don't care to see anymore Ibragimov fights.
Everybody seems to forget quickly how Wlad put on a **** poor performance that night as well. Both sucked that night.
Indeed, both fighters were poor. Wlad must have been terrified of Ibragimov's power as Wlad had him going and just backed off Iggy was badly shaken at one point and Wlad did not follow up. It was a total snoozefest apart from that and frankly if Wlad wanted to he could have KO'd Ibragimov. That said Ibragimov was good and his poor showing against the Rainman was where he came in nearly a stone heavier than usual. His 46 second destruction of the limited but tough (and never before stopped) Javier Mora certainly looked quite impressive. I hope he comes back but having parted with defensive minded trainer Jeff Mayweather maybe Iggy will be more fan friendly.
