I am sure that I speak for a majority when I say that no case can be made for Demspey at #3, unless you are just talking about the fighters as legendary figures, and discussing there places in the public imagination rather than ability and accomplishment.

    The resume just isn't there.

The p4p listing is a hell of a lot better than boxrec's, that's for sure. There's nothing there that deeply offends me.

No. Boxrec have Charles' placement spot on, these guys are 13 places off the mark.

Yeah, I thought you might have something to say about Charles' ranking!

Overall, though, it's a hell of lot better.

Louis was a very gracious man. In any event, lots of fighters prop up guys they like, but in the end it really comes down to resume.

Boxrec has the worst rankings and almost as bad as their rankings is how casuals (aka Mayweather fanboys) cling to them like they are 100% accurate.

When did he say that? 1930? There's been a lot of water under the bridge since Joe Louis. Marciano, Johnson, and Dempsey fought under 200 pounds and should be considered all time great Cruiserweights. Having them in there with guys like Lewis and Klitschko muddies things.
And rating Mayweather and Pacquiao below Dempsey makes sense?

No. I think Dempsey gets a lot of points on mystique and what he meant to his generation. I may be ignorant on him but I don’t think I’d have him on a shortlist if I was doing a top 100.

Yep. I'd rate Charles and Tunney at light heavyweight. Louis, Dempsey, Marciano, Johnson, Walcott, Langford as Cruisers.

Louis weighed 207 lbs at his peak and knocked out guys who weighed 240 plus lbs. He is a heavyweight

Charles and Tunney will be in the light weight rankings. There are no Cruisers, but some of them who were heavies under 200 pounds appear in the pound for pound rankings.
