Ice skating to improve footwork.

    Would it be a good idea to ice skate during the winter to improve one's footwork?

    Why not, theres a lot of Pluses there to integrate with Legs, Balance Posture, Rhythm.

    Quite a few amateurs take dancing lessons to improve posture, balance, rhythm, coordination and general awareness of their close surroundings.
    So if ice skating offers any of those, by all means give it a try.
    Of course, there are better alternatives. Shadow box, ask your trainer where you need more focus and go from there.

    I think skating in general may improve balance

    Like everything it would have some transfer, I wouldn't think too much with ice skating.
