In john simpson's current form i feel he would beat bernard dunne at super bantam weight, given the fact john could make super bantam, this imo would be a great fight in ireland for the fans.:nut
Possibly a good fight..... Dont think it will happen, or wont happen for a while at least personally as I see Dunne beating Poonswatt and then getting a shot at Caballero or even a fight against Izzy Vasquez
I don't think so Dunne needs to be chasing big names now not going backwards. It has long been my belief that Dunne could make featherweight and beat most at the weight in Ireland and UK including Simpson, Lyndsay, etc If you think Simpson could go down a weight and beat Dunne, you are seriously underestimating Dunne. It's not even a very exciting prospect for fans anyway and it is never likely to happen.
wont ever happen Dunne is finished with domestic level a long time and i cant see simpson getting up to world level tbh
i can assure you john simpson would give bernard a real real good fight and i no way am i underestimating dunne, everyone will see a very much improved simpson next week in middlesboro.
Dunne is also improving though, no offense to Simpson but I think Dunne is on another level at the moment.
I think Simpson would be a decent test to anyone but the genuine elite. Sorry to drag this up again, but Dunne IS NOT a world champion. Caballero is the WBA 122lb champ, end of story. With a bit of luck in his career, Simpson's record would read much better.
Dunne IS a world champ, he beat the man who beat the unified champ Caballero, he is fighting the man who should be Caballero's mandatory Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym (while Caballero is fighting some 14-4-2 guy in his next fight), he will go down in the history books as a world champ, enough said.
Caballero has been WBA champion since 2006, having gone to Thailand and won the title. Since then, he has remained undefeated, and annexed the IBF version by beating Steve Molitor. HE is the WBA champion. Do you consider Anthony Mundine a 168lb champion..... when he 'won' the WBA regular 'title' whilst Kessler held the real WBA title alongside the WBC? 'Cos I ****ing don't!
I recognise Dunne as a world champion for all the reasons I gave before. As far as I am concerned Dunne winning the WBA ordinary title is the same as if the title had become vacant and he won it that way. I see you were one of the posters who was predicting Dunne would lose to Cordoba so I understand why you are a bit put out now that he is a world champion
But he is infact correct. Dunne is only champ on a technicality, Caballero won the WBA title in Thailand.
