Wait, before you call me a troll, hear me out on this ! We all know who Andre Berto is, he was a promising, come foward fighter with good/fast handspeed, power & a shoulder roll as defense. He looked amazing for a while, but lost 3 in a rows due to unfortunate circumstances & maybe a lack of motivation ? Loosing your 0 isn't something some boxers take lightly, plus the earthquake in Haiti, and coming off 2 loses facing a really good ( and also very underrated ) Soto, there was exclamations points all over pointing toward disaster. I'm a big Floyd fan as some of you may have noticed, Floyd has had troubles in his career with come forward type fighters that won't be "scared" by his pop. Many used to think he was bothered by fast hand, but I believe he has a harder time against swarmer / come foward, see Castillo 1, Maidana 1, Mosley ( early rounds where Mosley came foward ) and so on ... Berto is a come foward fighter with decent heart ( he isn't a quitter, that we can say ), has good power, decent defense & even has fast hands, which Maidana didn't have but still managed to touch Floyd the most in his whole career. I think Berto is a really hard match for Floyd, and I know he mentioned him, and many ridiculed the idea, but I'd be down for it ! Anyone in the same boat as me ? I'd also appreciate your thoughts on this match up !
Berto's shot. Easy win for Floyd Berto wouldnt even land a meaningful punch. Berto's been in some wars since the war with Ortiz so he's shopworn and just came back from a break fighting against Lopez. Awful fight but Mayweather perhaps deserves an easy touch i guess, lol. Berto's a light snack.
Did you even take the time to read what I said ? And Berto isn't shot, he fought a decent gatekeeper type fighter in Josesito & made the adjustment to beat him.
Wel if you read my edit he's an illusion and is shot. Lopez was/is a nobody. And Lopez is on the same level as Berto currently. The Berto of the Ortiz fight is not the same fighter neither is he the same as when he fought Collazo. He's gone downhill after the losses. It's bound to have affected him. Same goes for Ortiz. Ortiz looks like **** now in the ring.
Berto was mayweather's gate keeper for years. He was being groomed for a mayweather fight but ended up loosening fights and missed the mosely fight. He sat back and watch mosely get the mayweather fight when he was supposed to fight mosely but the earthquake hit his homeland and he pulled out of the fight. He got beat by Ortiz, Ortiz gets the mayweather fight. Got beat by Guerrero, Guerrero gets the mayweather fight. Berto is a solid fighter who once was the supposed to be the next big thing. If Floyd wants to throw berto a bone and payday for his last fight why not. We know berto is coming to fight, no way he's going to win but I'm sure he will put up a better then expected effort.
Ortiz has serious pop, no heart & kind of glassy, Berto has both, but he also has heart, I think he can somehow come back to relevency. I kind of like berto too, rare I like come foward fighters, would be cool for him to get a nice pay ahah. He always come to fight, think it would be like maidana, would suprise a lot of people.
Yo when you can make some unbiased post come back plz, because all i see from you is irrelevant blabla that only ****es off people from this forum.
Excellent post. From a super bias view,Mayweather owes a brotha a shot and a check. Nobody wanted to give him a chance either.
this is mayweather's MO. he sets the expectations low so when they select someone better, it won't look as bad. they floated magic hatton, an undefeated white guy (can't think of his name) before they selected someone else.
Didn't say mayweather owed him anything. If this is mayweather's last fight he's probably just fighting to fulfill his contract. I don't expect him to take on a real challenge, so fighting berto may be it. Throwing berto a bone for being his opponent gate keeper all these years would be great for berto. I really don't care who Floyd's next opponent is, he's beat Pacquiao his last real opponent he needed to fight. What's left for a 38 year old 19 year boxing vet to do?
Berto vs Floyd is not a good matchup on any level. Floyd has had trouble with come forward guys that fight at least somewhat intelligently and throw a lot of punches. Berto does neither of those things. He comes forward without any real thought behind what he's doing and relies on his handspeed to get him by. If he can surprise his opponent or his opponent can't take the power that can still be enough for him to win, but not against higher level guys. He has no defense whatsoever and only carries power in his right, his left is worthless, and he's not even a high workrate type. He does have heart so he deserves credit for that but it would just be an exhibition of Berto eating Floyd's straight right hand all night. Berto's level is that of a fringe contender. Who he's lost to(Ortiz, Guerrero, and Soto-Karass) makes this clear. He can still make some interesting fights with other guys around that level but him vs Floyd would be a joke.
