We still don't know enough about Usyk to make him clear favorite, but we know enough to know that he'd be capable of beating Max.

    Hard to say isn't it.

Usyk has the potential to achieve enough that picking him over champs of yesteryear is a default option.

It's a dynamic opinion, as it always is with top level active fighters.

Making extravagant picks for an active fighter, is always a dangerous game.

I like everything that I am seeing in Usky, but if he gets knocked out by Derek Chisorah, then a lot of people will look very silly!

Not as silly as the person who puts an H in names willy-nilly!

I'd go ahead and wager that any top 5-10 heavy today would lead Schmeling in a public poll that's just the way fans are.

Cruiserweight is a good transition division to ease guys like usyk from the ams into heavyweight but don't think it's a good indicator of how good he will be when he moves up. He could potentially be worse or even better at Heavyweight then he was at cruiserweight. We just don't know

How many cruiserweight champs have gone on to become top dogs at heavyweight? I can think of 2 right now.

His touches are pretty glorious. He's shooting a lot of surprisingly stinging punches in there tonight.

However, he got tagged with more right hands tonight than would make me comfortable. Schmeling won't provide a bum's rush of course, and I picked him for a reason, he's too steady for this job IMO.

Still, Usyk is so fascinating. He won't get Joshua until 2022 so he has time.

    Usyk looks ordinary to me.

I thought he struggled a bit with the plodding Chisora, a gatekeeper journeyman at best.

Was expecting a lot more from Usyk.

Already been in there. The delusion is everywhere.
All of a sudden beating Chisora UD12 is something magnificent.

If Joshua is champ by 2022. I wouldn't count on that.
But based on what I saw last night, Joshua (if he gets past Pulev) would be best advised to take the Usyk fight next, before going for Fury.
If I was Joseph Parker I'd positively want that Usyk fight for the WBO too.

He barely looked like a top 10 contender last night.

This fight doesn't prove anything for this hypothetical. Chisora was slow as hell and had no stamina. Usyk won clearly, but he did this in unimpressive way.

I prefer to look at Usyk's work at CW to get the idea of him facing Max instead. Schmeling would school Chisora as well.
