His cruiserweight era was one of the strongest, and the stock of his victims will continue to rise.

In Schmeling day a legit champion faced legit challengers who had beat legit contenders.

No matter how good a champion looks today, without a legit champion facing legit challengers who had beat legit contenders how can you compare?

In real terms, Usyk just beat a legit contender who had lost his last fight.

Nah, he was battering men weighing 215 in the ring before he ever set foot in “hw”. Bit of a golden generation, too.

Even if you only allow the weigh in weights he’s probably beaten on average bigger fighters than oh, I don’t know…Rocky Marciano.

I agree. I was not talking so much about size this time. I was talking about comparable legitimacy for comparisons sake.

when Schmeling beat Joe Louis he was beating the outstanding contender of that generation. A contender with legitimate wins over more legitimate opponents than is possible today. And this was not even a world title fight!

hunter, Gasiev, Belew, Bredis and Huck are all fine wins. Commendable. but if you examine the resume of these guys there’s more filler and manufactured matchmaking than you will find, on average, among 1930s rated men.

And that is not Usyks fault. That’s just how it is.

Aj has beaten loads of ranked guys. So has Usyk. Not sure what you’re on about tbh.

If you’re point is you can never pick a modern fighter over a 1930s one because the guys they beat didn’t beat guys as good as the guys that the modern fighters beat when they got beat  I reject it utterly.

no my point is, upon comparison, the legitimacy is not the same if much less of a career is spent climbing over opponents coming off their own legitimate wins than the guys who earned their bones in those days. There was no mention of “never” about it actually. Usyk is a wonderful fighter. I approve of him.

I thought the days when people try to turn Joshua into some kind of monster are gone.

I'm convinced. Usyk has the best engine I've ever seen on a guy that big, and he's the best technician I've ever seen that size, too. He's a tough ******* and very, very quick. At 6'3, 215lb with the gifts he has, I think he's very much in the conversation of best head to head heavyweights. And he's closer to number one than he is to Max Schmeling IMO.

Max Schmeling had a real good right hand that handed the great Joe Louis his first defeat in 1936. Usyk was successful in his first title defense against Anthony Joshua, but showed signs of vulnerability, eating right hands as though they were a desert after dinner. I think Max takes this one late after Usyk is full from right hands.

You can’t answer a question but Im the dumb one?

you said usyk beats every champion pre Liston. I am holding you to that. You won’t back it up.

I asked you if you said the same thing after Michael Spinks beat Larry Holmes.
