I'd pick Oleksander Usyk to beat Max Schmeling

Tubbs v Witherspoon wa awful and spoon looked sloppy v Bruno too, Usyk would have beaten them more convincingly than he beat AJ because they wouldn`t be able to match his stamina and sharpness in that kind of condition, Tubbs v Spoon was fought at walking pace, and Bruno caught spoon constantly in their clash before he gassed.

 

It is a different game for sure.

I mentioned it from the competition stand-point. I think choklab has a point when He pointed out the difference in the standard of competition between two eras. When You can pick your opponents, fight 1-2 times a year, maneuver your way towards title shot - it's easier to manufacture a contender or champion. The more competition, the higher chance that what rises to the top really is a cream.
That's why I mentioned that in Amateur game, when You still have all the top fighters competing with everyone in every major tournament - Usyk still proved that He can flourish in that kind of system. Perhaps it's even more advantagous to him.
I think it's important while considering his ATG status. Every era has a bit different features, characteristics I think, but if a fighter was dominate in two very different structures of competition, like today's amateur and professional game, I think it's good hint that He would be able to adapt to any era and do fine.

it is true that much more of the seasoning of a professional champion is developed in the Amateur career. The pro career is merely a navigation to the championship class of the pros.

 

Tubbs & Witherspoon would beat Martin, Breazeale, Molina, Takam, Paker & Ruiz Jr, & old Pulev. & old Povetkin, probable beat old Klitschko.
at very worst least they beat over more than 50% of this opposition.

I agree. He's a disingenuous, dishonest, agenda driven troll and I've always wondered how nobody's caught on this sooner.

But I guess when you have guys like Kamikaze, Johnny_B, Noneck, Moneytheman12, Lamotta, etc and their countless alts. it's a lot easier for guys like Chok to stay under the radar. Best you can do is put them on ignore.

 

I actually agree, and that isn't a knock on Schmeling. Usyk is just that great.

 

I would go even further and say Usyk is a tough style match up for Joe Louis aswell, i think Louis would have a great deal of trouble against Usyk's movement, angles, footwork, southpaw stance.

Joe Louis cracked vertebrae in Max Schmeling's back during his one round demolition of him in their rematch.

How long would Usyk have been on the floor claiming a foul after Louis landed those body shots to his side and back? How many times did Usyk claim he got hit with a low blow tonight? The referee even started ignoring him and telling him to fight.

Usyk isn't beating freaking Joe Louis.

 

My opinion may of changed after tonight lol but still remember Louis apparently got schooled in sparring by a Southpaw, and claimed he would never fight a Southpaw so that is something to consider.

I still think Southpaw stance and movement/angles gives Louis problems, but if Louis see the vulnerability Usyk has to the body i think he takes him out.

 

IMO this is a "no hope" fight for Max Schmeling. Usyk is dominant in every (or almost every) aspect.

 

Joe Louis got dropped at his absolute peak by Tony Galento and Jimmy Braddock. I think that's a tad more damaging than a faded 36 year old Usyk whining about low blows en route to winning by kayo in a fight without dropping a round. How did Louis look at 36?
