Are you calling him an amateur level fighter because of his Olympic gold medal and all his other amateur accomplishments?

13 pro fights and COMPLETELY UNPROVEN vs a prime Max Schmeling circa 1931. Heavyweight champion of the world and over 50 pro fights.

Amateur level vs a real professional. Self explanatory.

Perry catches a lot of **** here, but I'm sorry. This is the kind of down to Earth reality check this forum needs.

Go look at the Kovalev thread from about a year ago. People here were saying he was as good or better than Joe Louis. Others were saying Kovalev would tear through great LHWs of the past. In that thread, Perry comes off the most radical. But if you read that thread right now, his posts were the most true to life. Go read it. It's almost surreal.

Bwaha! This is the **** I learned day 1 in silver gloves. That's what you got to say?

And did you even watch the fight? He's constantly pivoting to the right and setting his left for down the pike action.

Huh? Did you bother reading the thread? The vast majority of posters are skeptical about how Kovalev stacks up against ATG light heavyweights. The rest of us are mostly saying that he appears to have the talent and potential to compete with the greats. Can't tell whether you're being sincere.

This was the first time I've seen Usyk fight, and I thought he looked very, very
good against a tough, albeit past his due by date, Huck. I believe he is actually
right handed as his jabs looked like they were harder when they landed than
his straight lefts. I wish wouldn't be so wild (wilder?) with his punches.

Best thing about the fight was the crazed look Usyk had on his face when he was announced
per-fight. Very crazy grin. Check it out at 1:09 of this video.

For the sake of reference, I wouldn't have ruled out Evander Holyfield after 13 bouts against Schmeling. Number of bouts doesn't mean all that much, in some cases.

Breidis is very althletic, has silky smooth skills, and hits like a trucks but he fought very cautiously against Huck in a low risk style. Usyk on the other hand was relentless in spots, had a shockingly high workrate and took countless risks.

In terms of power though, you have to admit Kovalev could end any fight with any fighter at any given time.
When you drop guys like Hopins, Ward and Pascal, you must have some serious power.
